For awhile we have been pulling our hair out over such search terms like tennis courts for hire

tennis court hire

In fact in Google Ireland at the time of this post all ten results where non-irish !! look at the Google Trends:

trends tennis

That seemed a little odd until this trend and these results :

trends football

football hire

It just feels wrong to me if an Australian is searching for “tennis court hire” more than any other country that Google will show you .com.au results even if you are in Ireland with a Irish IP ! It’s wrong Google and seriously Bing you shouldn’t be following suit?

hat tips to http://www.leofogarty.com/ who is on the same track.

This kind of relates to some of the data on the articles below where SEOShark picked out the related searches had people searching for a second time but with their location, their location was Sydney etc

    1st search, [tennis courts]
    2nd search. [tennis courts sydney]

As Google doesn’t like second searches (e.g. the user didn’t find what they were looking for so google fail) they might be taking the results for second searches and showing them for the relates first search, thus preempting a second search

UKSerps – Great point! But even so, Google shouldn’t be including .aus results for Irish searches from an, Irish IP address. Sort it out, Google!

Can’t figure out which bucket dartswarehouse.com goes in. New Zealand company prices in USD ranking in Google.com.au with a Union Jack in the logo ????

[...] This doesn’t make sense – Dave Naylor makes another appearance this week with some very odd SERPs that popped up lately. I’ve included this one as it was another convo I was having with the gang a few weeks back… a definite WTF moment. But we actually saw it in the CA SERPs and you could bring up .ca’s in the AU SERPs… so it’s rampant! [...]

Local search only works if there are local sites optimized for the keyword query. Also Pages From the Web is the default search. unless you specify to search for pages only from a particular country engine.
