MySpace Australia have appointed affiliate marketer Peter Mycock to the new role of commercial director.
Since 2006, Mycock has been generating leads at AOL – from search to affiliates. MySpace announced that his new job at the company will be similarly to:
"oversee all commercial operations including business strategy and partnerships, sales team leadership and corporate development."
Mycock was quoted as saying:
"I am excited to be joining MySpace at such a pivotal time in the industry, where content discovery, self-expression and understanding the consumer DNA will be critical to enabling the appropriate interaction between publisher, advertiser and community."
MySpace’s commercial troubles over recent years are well-documented as Facebook and Twitter have eclipsed it in popularity. It is hoped that Mycock’s experience in digital channels will bolster the ailing social media giant. According to Nick Love, MD of MySpace, Mycock has been responsible for excellent growth in yields in his previous roles, and it is hoped that his insight will bring similar benefits to MySpace.
