Buying a Timeshare in Spain
I was always very sceptical about Spanish timeshares, but I can say that if you are currently thinking about buying a timeshare then I would recommend it as long as you deal with a good company.
We bought our timeshare in Marbella 4 years ago, and the best thing about it is the fact that it makes us take a full week off work, once a year, that we can spend in the sun with the kids. The rest of the year is pretty flat out with the odd long weekend taken here and there.
I will be jetting off to our timeshare tomorrow, its at the Marriot resort so its a 5 star resort and the apartment is really spacious, with everything you need on site such as 3 pools, a private beach, restaurants, bars and a shop. Hopefully this year Becky has arranged a better hire car than last year as we tend to drive out to some place or another each day with the help of the European TomTom.
So from tomorow I will be soaking up the sun, sea and sangria in Marbella, getting some much needed rest and recouperation with Becky and the kids.

My playground up until last October/November. Was back there a few weeks back, absolutely love Marbella and the surrounding areas. Car hire in Spain can be a bit crap, but Sixt have always done me good.
If you get some time without the kids, head to Laguna Village, on the old N340 road (not the toll motorway) which is further south than Marbella, just before Estepona, for some pampering at the spa, cocktails at Trader Vics and there’s even some fashion label shopping for Becky 😉

If you’ve not already paid it a visit Dave then Benahavís is worth a trip in the evening for food. It was recommended to us by a friend who live out their. It’s only a small village but it has a real buzz about it at night, even past midnight. I had a few really rememberable evenings their with my GF a few years back.
It’s a few miles north from the AP-7 between Marbella and Esterpona, and is fully recommended.

Hi David
Your comments are very refreshing from the usual comments I tend to see about Timeshare in general. I have been working within the industry for 15 years I my company, which I started 10 years ago, appreciates these positive comments about our our industry. Have a great holiday at Marriott Marbella, my family are in Spain at the moment and the weather is meant to be very good

Forget timeshare and week living the dream.
Just move out here full time.
Beats miserable Yorkshire any day of week.
I can speak from experience 😉

Timeshares in Spain are great. However, make sure that you’re dealing with a credible company when you intend to own one as scams are already working everywhere especially on online deals.

Great post David, most people don’t know that timeshares are as affordable as hotels with 3 times the space. More like a condo. You can also rent timeshare units without purchasing first. The resale market is by far the most affordable way to enter the timeshare market, especially if you know the location and resort that interest you. I typically rent one when i go skiing. Great pics also, how many hotels look that classy..
