    Nice :)

I used to have some standing code in my blog that, if it detected the commenter was hitting me with Viagra spam, would redirect them to a spammy Canadian pharmacy website (who had previously spammed me). Sadly, I never got to see the looks on their faces.

I do the same for telemarketers. Once they tell me about their services, i am asking them if they want to buy a nice sofa I have for sale, some used games. They all end up hanging in less than 2 minutes :)

    Nice thoughts :)
Still ppl have to learn quality marketing which lacks a lot. Small startups in India do these stuffs. Irritating and Spoiling the complete reputation. Time and again bloggers brand Indian internet marketers as SPAMMERS and there will be a few who will jump to defend it. Not this time coz our email box take the maximum toll and our mobiles too :( ((

But your approaches work i guess

I love messing with a rookie Nigerian Scammer… whenever I’m feeling in a good mood I’ll mess with them and send some retarded responses back and forth.

Brilliant they deserve all they get there are better ways of doing business and people like these give us all a bad rep
I try to be polite on cold calls as they are just doing what they are told but I can’t stand the constant spammy IMs and emails!

    Dave,

Its not a good thing to use my country name in your blog. I felt it very offensive. I request you to remove INDIA name from your blog content. Mass marketing is done in every country not just INDIA. I am in online business from 7 years and I too get Spam mail from various parts of the world.

Oh no that is too funny! What if he had said yes please :)
Now I want to try that one just to see what happens. For me its skype – same problem, all these men who are “looking for friends” – I guess I shouldn’t offer them porn because they may actually say yes.
Maybe I will offer them self-help material instead – and keep sending a link to a website that will show them “how to find a woman”

So the spammer becomes the spamee… brilliant!!!

@hyder I can’t do that sorry and the reason I can’t is simple I didn’t change anything the communications except to hide the identity of the seo company in India, if he had said Poland or China I would have left it like that, also the fact that the 6 before this one where all from India kinda pissed me off quite a lot, I haven’t had any seo companies from any other countries add me to MSN then start spamming me …

In the same way I haven’t any Indians request me to hold 10 million dollars in a bank account for them, that seems to be all African nations, but sadly the scams that come from India seem to be pushing Indian SEO companies ..

What is ‘SPAM’ & What is ‘Marketing’

It gets me every time…because; no-one and I mean no-one, is calling the advertising posted mail-shot ‘SPAM’ and making laws against it (Albeit you can opt out)…but you can opt out of receiving emails…can’t you?
I wonder would it be because big business, can afford the expensive posted mail shots, email packages and TV advertising and the small marketers cannot and then when the internet came along and big business seen that the small guy found it an affordable way to market his or her product, they invented the dirty word ‘SPAM’.

We get unsolicited advertising in our home called TV advertising. They even increase the sound by 3 decibels to make us notice, but they don’t call this ‘SPAM’. (Us small fry can’t afford this either.)

I only broach the subject because I am a small guy trying to get my product namely my shopping site ‘TheShoppersList.net’ up there with the big boys…I don’t promote anything that is bad or can’t be shopped for on the high street or seen or heard in all walks of life…but let me send an email advertising my site to someone who didn’t ask for it and WOW!!!!!…THEY’LL BAR ME FROM THE INTERNET AND THROW ME IN JAIL!!!!!.

My mailbox is full of what they call ‘SPAM’, i.e. emails for sex, drugs & scams, the very thing they said would stop if they called it ‘SPAM’ and made it illegal; Doesn’t seem to have made a difference, except against the real small advertisers who can’t afford expensive posted mail shots, email packages and TV advertising.

So once again the minnows lose out to the establishment on a platform that is supposed to be free!!!!
Or am I into…. “Conspiracy Theories”.

    Please comment.
