error 999 is yahoo’s way of saying “slow the fuck down!” or that you’re making them work too much.
just got it now, but everything worked fine going through a proxy or anonymizer (www.anonymouse.org)
it’ll pass, but the other yahoo users in my house will have to go through anonymouse for a few days.

Use an anonymous proxy - its yahoos fault, they are limiting the bandwidth…big f*ck you to yahoo. Boycott their service if you can or hammer their sites which will actually cause them more traffic than it would have if no BS error would have been received.

the 999 error seemed to occur when the main yahoo mail .com site put a ban on your IP address
solution (tried and tested many times)
1. try to login using
mail.yahoo.co.ukor
2. http://login.europe.yahoo.com/config/mail?.intl=uk
for some reason (known only to yahoo expert !) these links
are blind to the ban slapped by the main yahoo mail link.try it and it will work.

TO SOLVE THE 999 ERROR MESSEAGE AT YAHOO, HERE IS THE SOLUTION (I THINK!!!!!!!!)
FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT ARE USING PROXY ON YOUR BROWSER, TRY TO SWITCH TO ANOTHER PROXY. YOU MUST KEEP ON SWITCHING TO ANOTHER PROXY UNTIL YOU FIND ONE THAT WORK FOR YOU. or YOU CAN GET RID OF YOUR PROXY AND HAVE A “DIRECT CONNECTION” WHEN CONNECT TO YAHOO THEN YOU WILL NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEM.
HOPE IT HELP

This issue has beeh happening to me for several weeks. I’m fed up with Yahoo, and I’m a loyal Yahoo user since 1998. It looks like the Yahoo Admin have just stopped caring about their users. Like an old woman in a rent-controlled apartment, they no longer care to fix the problems with her plumbing.

I just started having this problem and it’s not just on my home computer, it’s every computer that I’ve tried to change my profile on! That kills the IP address theory! I think there is a major problem with Yahoo and the whizes, or lack therof, haven’t figured the fix out yet.

If there were more people and less bots hanging out at Yahoo we might get some answers! I just switched over to Yahoo mail but if this shit keeps up I might give Bill Gates my business again. At least you can talk to a human there!

I just registered for a del.icio.us account and here it is: the 999 error. I remember seeing the *same thing* waaay back years ago on Yahoo! when I was registering for some other Yahoo service (don’t remember what it was). What are they thinking? Wake up, Yahoo!

“# Kai_ Says:

”They haven’t fixed it yet, another instance of there error has come up. They sure found the time to implement Google styled advertisements, but for 2 years they haven’t change this. From that I would take it that they do not consider this an bug but a feature. Don’t expect it to change : /

A great Shit…. But I think, it comes when some sharing computers try to open 2 or 3 IDs at yahoo. The yahoo stops the service and tells that there is some virus or spyware in your system. But if the proxy of each system is different or it is a networking, it might not appear on screen…

I think its funny they ask my email address in this “leave a reply” box considering i can’t even CHECK my email!!!
And NO, its not some stupid spyware stuff, its not something wrong with my computer because i have access to an ENTIRE CAMPUS full of computers at my school and NONE OF THEM allow me to access my email any better. if i’m lucky, i get to atleast see the subjects of them. this is complete bullshit.
can’t yahoo! atleast provide some phone number so i can call and bitch to a real person? i have important emails coming in everyday, shit for school and classes and clubs and meetings, i’m getting rid of my yahoo account if this doesn’t get better within the week. christ.

I have been a Yahoo user since the early 90’s, after we switched from dial-up to satellite last June, then I started experiencing the 999 errors shortly afterwards. Which leaves me with Google or Ask for search engines, that’s all right if that’s the way Yahoo wants to play the game.
I do a lot of research and do the use the search engines a lot, if you can’t access Yahoo pages then all the companies/sponsors who are paying monthly fees to advertise on Yahoo, certainly would stop advertising with Yahoo. My conclusion would be Yahoo will fold up eventually…..

I have been trying to publish a response on Answers.Yahoo.com for quite a while now but I kept getting the 999 error message. I just tried accessing through http://www.anonymouse.org and it worked like a charm! It’s a UK site, and I’m in the U.S., but it worked wonderfully, so thanks #17 Anonymous for the suggestion.

Hi!
Sorry, Unable to process request at this time — error 999.
This is Horrible, every time I’m facing this issue, when am trying to enter Yahoomail.com. I have no idea about it as I’m not a techie, people from Yahoo should be knowing about it and also they can rectify it immediately.
Try to fix that as soon as possible.

What really ticks me off is that this “Sorry, Unable to process request at this time — error 999″ thing has been going on for months, and I pay for a business account with these bozos. No one at Yahoo answers questions and the help pages are full of irrelevant junk. Little wonder Yahoo is sliding down the toilet. How hard can it be to sort out this problem? Why don’t they hire some competent programmers for f***’s sake and try to salvage what’s left of their reputation!

I have the same error message 999. It happens whether I am checking from home or from a completely different computer at my school. It could not be IP related nor is it related to spyware or a virus. I have found that if I switch back to Classic Mail that I never get the error. This is so aggravating!

Oops. Very BIG oops. In fact, one I would call a serious fucking oops!
