WordPress Hosting recommended by WordPress

I kinda just had a big argument with a client and I need to vent a little, after setting up a blog on Pair.com on my reseller account, the client rings me and asks which preferred wordpress hosting company did I chose. I asked “what did he mean2 and he pointed me to the wordpress hosting page, at which I laughed out loud.. yep a proper belly laugh, I told him that’s not a recommended list it’s an affiliate list they earn money from those links..

This is where the argument started I pointed out that “some will donate a portion of your fee back—so you can have a great host and support WordPress at the same time.“, It’s basically an affiliate deal, but the client knows best, and wants me to sign up to the host and setup the blog, I say ok, but it’s going to cost another $100 time and effort, or he can set it up and ftp the the site for free… which is what he decided to do.. I’m not going to name the host he went with, but guess what ? it all went wrong and now it’s my fault because it was my idea to use wordpress !! now they want to look at drupal.. I said good luck! and that he should complain to wordpress that their WordPress Hosting deals aren’t that good !

It’s as I’ve always said. “Clients are rubbish”.

Client: What technology do you use?
    Me: PHP/MySQL
    Client: I always preferred postscript.
    Me:

Clients that know a little bit about technology are dangerous.

Client pays you then decides they know best – with the amount you charge that’s shocking! ;)

The customer knows best is not such an accurate statement these days.

So far my experience with MediaTemple has been great, I must say :) Funny thing is, they don’t do affiliate deals.

To be fair some wordpress hosts aren’t terrible. If they have cPanel/”unlimited” domains it can be good for people on a budget…

Though it is obviously much better to have your own server or a seo/web developer in control :)

    Hi Dave,

I had an incident with a client not obeying to copyright laws all his images and content for his website he passed over to me and claimed as his content. Were in fact property protected by copyright, i got a very nasty email from the owner on the content and it wasn’t my fault.

    Regards,
    Richard

I have been hosting my wordpress blog with Tigersites. They have all that one click installer stuff and do a fine job and making sure sites are up, etc. I’m surprised it’s not on the recommended list, it should be!

Human stupidity is endless..this kind of people are always looking for someone or something to blame. There are plenty of WordPress Hosting Providers out there and people have mixed experience even with the same provider.

I do recommend providers to my clients, but I don`t make any guarantees. Especially with cheap providers. I set up a site with WordPress Hosting Providers (http://www.best-wordpress-hosting.com) just for this cause. I send them to this page and they decide for themselves and I still get a commision. But they don`t blame me when things go wrong.

    Learned the hard way:)
