IMHO Vista is nice to the eye, has a few brilliant features but overall is not worth the trouble (yet). I’ve been running Vista on several PCs for months now and if it is not This going wrong, then it’s That… Every time just causing me more unwanted frustration and makes me want to go back to XP.
Good luck calling them ;)
Can anyone name 1 thing you can do on Vista that you can’t on XP? I even see they are making DX10 work on XP.. Which was the only reason I’d consider looking at a Vista box until it comes out of Alpha.
ok I rang them up, and they sorted it, but what worries me as a reseller, what would have happen if this was a customer, the excuse was, maybe a corrupt file sector.. hmmm that doesn’t make sense to me
DaveN - still rocking on Vista
Mark, the built-in search function in Vista is super cool (IMO). I know that you can use Google Desktop or similar programs on XP but I haven’t found anything that is as good as the Vista one.
agreed Wonderbaum, I had tried a few desktop search apps, but vista is by far the best.

Vista has the amazing capability of transforming a top of the range PC into the equvilant of a 486, its so fuggy slow compared to other operating systems.
I hate Vista. A lot. I can’t get a few applications working on it all. They have also hidden a lot of the interfaces and options that I previously used.
The permissions stuff doesn’t just stop malware from getting on the machine; it actually stops users from doing many run of the mill day-to-day stuff too.
It happened to one of our staff members a couple of days ago, too. All he did by way of a “hardware change” was update his graphics card driver. Testing it out, his Vista was still running even after the threatened deadline had expired.
Merely confirms my personal decision not to touch Vista with a bargepole for at least another year or so.
I’m using XP and works very well for me. Good luck
