Want more blog visitors ?

If your a blogger and you use wordpress you will be well aware of the dashboard and the fact it shows the latest activity ( people that have linked to you from technorati..

ok

a) write a title which people will wonder what the hell your on a about

CRAZY PEOPLE IN {WHATEVER INDUSRTY}

b) write some fluff or even something cool

c) link to 1000’s of bloggers in that industry in the post ( you might want to build a list )

d)  ping technorati then remove the links..

e) % of the people will come to you blog just to see what the post was :)

f) what you do next is up to you  … warning technorati might not think it’s cool :)

Somehow I just don’t see it being worth the effort. Linking to someone takes a minute. Linking to hundreds of people could take hours. And all for the off-chance that a few of them might visit your blog? Not link to you or buy anything, but just visit? If I wanted visitors that bad I’d just pour a bunch of money into pop-unders.

I somehow don’t think your going to building the link list by hand if your going to adopt this technique so its hardly an issue…

It’s a bit stupid actually. You miss the value, it’s only a temporary thing.

When we are talking “traffic” that’s something that we can look up to daily. The morning you login to your dashboard to see that log phase on the graph? Feels good right?

I don’t think doing this trick daily is a worthwile effort. It may work for 1 or 2 days though.

I’d count it as a “trick” not a strategy.

    :D Thanks Dave.

It would be so nice if this worked, were it not that WordPress switched to Google Blog Search for this report a few releases ago :)

Isn’t linking to all authoratative blogs in your niche the same as slapping all of them on a blogroll that rolls on for ten pages and then actually encourages traffic to leave your site?

    Am I missing something here?

You’d want to be careful Dave, you’re showing how old your WP install is ;)

Not that the meta name=”generator” doesn’t do that already. Joost is right, WP no longer uses technorati links in the dashboard.

Loved the idea, I also love people that read SEO type blogs and then pass out the Spam words. The minute they wake up thinking “I think I’ll change my title tag today!” makes them a spammer. Keep up the tricks, someday I’ll give them a go.
