VW Splitty Restoration Pictures

by

Since I posted about my new VW Camper Van I’ve had quite a few requests to add some more pics of “Bob’s” restoration. I have a big box file full of all the invoices and receipts for parts and labour that has been carried out on this South African import. It has been through a complete rebuild over the last few years and since these restoration photos were taken it has had more added to it including a brand new engine, sports exhaust and new wheels. I was torn between getting a VW camper that I could do up myself or one that was all done, and I totally believe I have made the right decision as to be quite honest … when do I have time to sort out my own restoration? At the moment my main priority is sorting out the garage doors so that I can put Bob away at night … at the moment I have to rely on a big security lock to keep him safe.

So here are some pictures of how Bob was restored… (especially for the man who sells beds online :) … get yours and we’ll go on some days trips – hope to see you at Harewood on the 16th)

wow, that really was a full on resto. I was always told that the quality of a camper resto could be seen in the end result, particularly in the straightness of the panels and neatness of the nose- this is a minter (growling with jealousy- lol) i have been discussing at length with clare how a camper could enrich our lives, unfortunately, i think i still have some work to do before i can park mine next to yours!

Seriously, though, i was really tempted at bug jam by a splitty barn door panel van which was fully restored with a roc and roll bed in the back. was thinking of getting it sign written with click 4 beds !!!

Yep, clare and i and the boys will be at harewood so will hopefully see you there. Are you showing it ?

Oh, and thanks for the shout! ;-)

    kind regards

Your camper van is beautiful. My neighbour has one similar to yours (not quite as nice though) and I am eternally jealous looking out of the window at it!
