Warning … be very careful with your Direct Messages on Twitter even if they seem to have come from your friends.

It was announced yesterday on Mashable that Twitter has become vulnerable to another worm and this one seems to be worse than any previous worm.  The worm is there to hijack your login details but not in any subtle sort of way, but by you acting in trust from a DM that has come from one of your existing friends (who have already been infected).

It is likely that you may receive a DM with a link in it, which like any other unsuspecting person you would click on.  This link then takes you to a login page that just so happens to look like the login screen on Twitter and you unsuspectingly enter your own details.  That’s it… you have just given your login details away to be used by the worm virus to send out more DM’s on your behalf that will continue the spread.

So just be careful what you may be clicking on when you are catching up on Twitter.  I’m not sure if the bad links will be starting to appear in the normal friends feed as well as the DM’s but it’s something to watch out for.
