I’ve been developing on the Internet since 1995 and hands-down my favorite designer ever has been Mark Otto. I liked him so much, I actually hired him. Here are some of his sites.

For cheap work by an independent designer (for us small-timers with small budgets) I have been extremely satisfied with the work I have gotten from http://www.askgraphics.com. Don’t know how they compare in complexity, b/c I don’t know anything about design… they just seem to look good to me.

I’m a big fan of Gravitate Design Studio - haven’t used them yet, but plan to for a project I’m working on right now. Great clean work.

Looks like a veiled attempt to get links to his clients and his own sites. :)

    Howdy Dave

Do a Google search for: world’s best web designer

My http://www.tailored.com.au site is # 1 and 2. So that makes me the world’s best web designer, right??!

It was just a basic page I did a few years back explaining a couple of basic SEO points. But, amazingly, people do think “Heh, Tailored must be the best - Google ranks them as the world’s best web designers.”

    Hi Dave

I really like the web 2.00 look and feel on your http://www.tickme.com and also your http://www.zippy.co.uk sites.

Who does your graphic design/typographty work, one of the guys in house or do you send the graphic design side of it outside?

  14. 14. DaveN | January 9th 2007 @ 12:30 am

    Hi Mike
Just for the record I have to take the credit for the design of the Zippy logo and site. Kean, one of our in-house designers did a great job with TickMe.

One of the worse ever SEO designers has to be the one that made the old Odeon site, which for years didn’t support anything at all except IE.

I will have to add a Canadian flavor to the list…

Hmm, not all of those are terribly accessible Dave - changing the text size only works on a couple. It even breaks the navigation on Global Integration in IE!

    Fantasy Interactive. http://www.fantasy-interactive.com/

    Just amazing.

I like the design on Tickme.

Best designers are the google people.
Less is more and all that white space rocks.

    Chris Pearson of http://www.pearsonified.com.

He designed seobook.com, copyblogger.com (and pearsonified.com, of course).

I have used the guys at Sharp End Media and they were really good, they helped me get the most out of what i was after. I once used a guy that just did it at weekends and he was terrible in comparison with http://www.sharpendmedia.com check them out.
