actually this has nothing to do with ask.com’s viral campaign, which for the record i think is messed up, But more on the lines that Google openly said that it had fixed googlebombing, I guess they didn’t : THE ALGORITHM IS FROM JERSEY I’m seeing http://xkcd.com/ at ~1 for Their homepage, but here is the really Story…

I’m not sure whats worse,
1) coming up with a marketing campaign which few members of the public will actually understand.
2) letting some completely unrelated site steal all the traffic.

I noticed that a while ago, that Google’s super-magic-secret anti-googlebomb filtering seemed be be “check the page has stuff like the anchor text” on it :)

That’s not really Google Bombing. Just SEO combined with link baiting and other acquisition to pirate an ill conceived viral campaign.
On the other hand, Google Bombing definitely still works!
