I think it pays to do some research with any online marketing strategy. That sounds like common sense but for online advertising and markteing efforts to be succesful it pays to see what is out there.
What type of sites have a strong member base? What are the top subject that people are searching for on google. What insititutions/organizations have been around for a long time – way before the social media wave and now will be adapting these new practices.
Just jumping on the biggest website fad is, in my opinion, a bad strategy. You are 100% correct – websites come and go and with the flood of social media sites it pays to do a little homework on the topics that will be around long after the websites will.


Agreed, with all the new social media sites constantly opening the whole thing is becoming more and more diluted.
I’m sure when its all ironed out there will be a handful of leaders and the rest will be ignored for the most part.
