word on the street is Skype is showing it Mobile Phone Off at 2008 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona today.
and not a mock up but a real working model based on GSM, the new model that contains software allowing you to make Skype calls over standard phone networks like Orange and T-mobile not over Wi-Fi or USB PC connected
so Skype-to-Skype calls are still free and the sound quality seems equal to normal mobile calls
At present the phone works with The UK and euro standard GSM, but Skype are in talks with the US providers.

Dave, maybe this’ll force UK call plans down in price.
I wonder how they get the skype-to-skype technology to work over GSM as well.

http://www.distilled.co.uk/blog/HSDPA 3G data is supposed to be lightning quick – as long as you have coverage, it should be fine for Skype. 3 have been offering this for a little while (though I haven’t tried it – don’t know what the quality is like). Is this skype getting into the hardware then?
Rob: on the price front, it might be able to push it down by allowing skype-skype calls to be a better option, but unfortunately the operators will keep their market power if you are calling a non-skype mobile number – the ‘termination’ charge is still going to make that cost about as much as it currently does.
