It seem that Yahoo has pulled a small coup here,

T-Mobile announced on Tuesday that it will soon begin using Yahoo as its preferred mobile search provider in Europe, ending the operator’s existing relationship with Google for mobile search.

With the launch of Android some in the Mobile industry felt that Google may have tread on a few toes, I guess T-mobile was one of them.

Google’s share price drops….meanwhile Yahoo is on the up…..

Google don’t seem to be too affected from the slowing economy with a 17% jump in profits. Advertising it seems goes from strength to strength. Yahoo on the other hand are keeping a closed shop on their success levels.

If Google can really crack the social networking sites profits should be higher (providing they don’t pay too much for C Block)

Ok here’s mine and why

Google : Search basically. Everything about it is so far ahead of the competition, the results, the cleanness of the interface, how adwords integrates !

Live : apart from the people ( we love you guy’s) for me it’s the little extra bits that live does, the video search, 3D Maps, the review of products, the health vertical etc etc

Yahoo : Flickr !!! it’s simply the best

Ask : I like the fact that Barry likes them :) … and Bloglines !!!

So Yahoo is planning to cut a load of jobs to increase its own profits…hmmm and gain more focus to crucial areas. Well I think it’s a shame, surely a collective number of people working on new ideas in search and actively developing the engine has to be better than reducing jobs… but of course it’s really all about profits.

Yahoo say they want to be a starting point for consumers whilst extending other offerings such as advertising and opening up their technology.

Their areas of focus hardly seem revolutionary ? How about trying something original…
