New click quality reports in adCenter

Mel Carson, Beer drinking friend of David Naylor ( Light weight drinker as well !) has Posted on the adcenter blog about the New click quality reports. btw Mel is adCenter Community Team

Low-quality clicks are clicks that adCenter classifies as non-billable, including those that adCenter has identified as:

* Invalid clicks
* Clicks that have characteristics of low or unclear commercial intent
* Clicks that exhibit patterns of unusual activity
* Clicks that originate from spiders, robots, questionable sources, or test servers
* Clicks that should be filtered out for other reasons

Summary

The Post also covers how Adcenter compares to the other Search Engines and shows how Adcenter is moving more and more into giving Advertisers More Visibility.

adexcellence - adcenter accreditation

adexcellence - adcenter accreditation
adcenter accreditation

Well I spent a day last week on Thursday with the adcenter team, One question that was asked was the adcenter accreditation program, well at least I can tell you it’s name adexcellence. At the moment it’s a pilot scheme but I’m pretty sure that we will see it soon … So keep watching the adcenter blog or maybe this site http://adexcellence.com

Well Thanks goes to Mel Carson for organising the event, Mel it was awesome and I thank you for that.. I will write more next week. Cool stuff that adcenter is doing, I would love to talk to you all about the evening I spent with Tarek and His team, but I signed an NDA, so tough luck!

Microsoft adCenter upgrades negative keyword management

On June 23, adCenter will be upgrading to expand negative keyword management to the campaign level.*

During this upgrade, adCenter will be temporarily unavailable for up to 14 hours, starting at 10:00 A.M. Pacific Time. Your keywords and ads will continue to run during this time. After this upgrade, reporting will be delayed for up to 24 hours. To see when your data was last updated, check the timestamp on the bottom of adCenter Reporting tab.

some more cool stuff they have done recently too :

Editing your keywords in bulk and previewing ads
Creating multiple account performance reports and new information on misspelled keywords
Importing campaigns from other search advertising programs

adCenter API email update

To better serve you, the adCenter API group is updating their e-mail notification system. After June 19, your API updates and alerts will be sent from info@msmedia.microsoft.com, instead of msftconn@microsoft.com. To continue receiving API e-mails, please add info@msmedia.microsoft.com to your e-mail address book or safe sender list.

AdCenter Dynamic Text

Ok as I get up to speed, Please feel free to jump all over this post where I’m wrong and point out what I’m missing. lol

The thing I have been playing with is {keyword}, Dynamic text {param2}, Dynamic text {param3}, I have been using this on a e-commerce website and it rocks.

So I set up my ad’s like this :

Ad Title : Buy {keyword} ( note: make sure your test and keyword doesn’t go over 25 chars, it will get pulled)
Ad Text : {keyword} from {param2}, {param3}
Display Url : www.domain.com/{Keyword}

then I use the bulk upload tool :

format :

keyword**.05**negativekeyword**http://www.yourdestinationURL.com**param2**param3

To indicate match type:Broad match = keyword, Exact match = [keyword], Phrase match = “keyword”

Ok get your programmers ;) , to output the model of your product to the keyword, price to param2, and anything special to param3 (I use Free Delivery as my backup)

example :

Microsoft Mice**.05**Drivers**http://www.yourdestinationURL.com**£11.99**10% off this week
Logitech Mice**.05**Drivers**http://www.yourdestinationURL.com**£49.99**Free Delivery
Optical Mice**.05**Drivers**http://www.yourdestinationURL.com**£5.99**massive range instock

so I end up with

Buy Microsoft Mice
Microsoft Mice from £11.99, 10% off this week
www.domain.com/Microsoft Mice

On quality score issues, I try to write my ad copy how I want it, then use the AdLabs adwriter to play around with the content on the landing page to see if I can get Adlabs to trigger my adcopy, i don’t know if this is a good practice or not lol
Anything else people can help with please jump in

Microsoft Adcenter TOC again

Ok, it was late last night when I posted the last blog entry on Adcenter updating their TOC.

ok … Microsoft may use matching criteria other than keyword searches to display your advertisements.

An educated guess is this, its just to cover themselves for when the ads get delivered into the Content Match, Shane from http://www.askshane.org/ posted on my blog that

I took that to mean that they’d be showing our ads on their new content network now, and not just search–without giving us a way to opt out of content. Is that how you read it?

Hmmm … shane see here Microsoft adCenter Content Ads – Watch the Webinar! there is a way to optout, But I agree with you it’s for the Microsoft adCenter Content Ads,

Adcenter updates Terms and Conditions

We’re writing to notify you that your Microsoft adCenter Terms and Conditions are updated. The changes take effect on April 30, 2007.

This One caught my eye:

* Microsoft may use matching criteria other than keyword searches to display your advertisements.

this is either way cool, or plain dumb … fingers crossed it’s way cool.

the big question was :

Why aren’t there 100% images in the top results?  The reason is largely because many sites, including very reputable merchants like Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, and AceHardwareSuperStore.com
