I’m from Spain. Here, Google share is 90+%, no client ask for anything but Google.

9 out of 10 clients will continually ask about Google, how the Google serps are playing, etc, and you can bet your bottom dollar, our pound in our case, that the one who does ask about Live or more commonly Yahoo! will be the client who isn’t performing as well on that engine as it should be, the Murphy’s Law of SEO if you will. From experience, higher rankings with Google will be more lucrative and I therefore concentrate my efforts on that engine, but I’ve had some pretty good conversion from Yahoo for some of my clients, very good in fact.

I say to clients why target 60-70% of market when you can target 100%(well about 90% really). I usually try to do an overall seo job so that the can get rankings across all 3. Ignore the smaller search engines at your peril, you will be surprised what and where people will find you on i.e. have seen click through from Mirago, A9, All the Web to name but an obscure few. Favourite search engine at the minute probably Searchme i know it only in beta at the minute but once it gets sorted should be the dogs bits… well in looks anyway other than that the Big G

Christ I remember people going on about Alta Vista and the wonderful Go To - now people are fixed on Google but I do notice a lot of my clients use IE and MSN search as their default - ????

    Google.

If you rank well in Google you probably rank well in the others too.

According to a large Swedish newspapper, Google has approx 85 % of the Swedish market. Clients are only interested in Google…

In Australia Google owns the search market so completely that there’s little point in optimising for Yahoo Australia or NineMSN search

Eg: Traffic sources for my main blog site during the last month:

    google 83.71%
    (direct) 6.04%
    live 1.97%
    yahoo 1.19%
    seomoz.org 0.57%
    etc
