Search Marketing Consultant

A truly effective online marketing strategy can only be realised by having clear focus and direction. Build into the mix internal politics that many companies have with budgets and decision making and direction can soon be lost, leaving some in a marketing conundrum. The search marketing consultant may need to anticipate time delays from others  for implementing certain criteria of an SEO campaign, which can of course have a major influence on how successful a website might be if the consultant does not allow for the time delay.

Ethical marketing techniques are very much the order of the day , back this up with technical expertise and a mindset of creativity and an ability to see into the future of search and you have a skill set that most businesses need. True search consultancy power can only really be demonstrated on the results achieved for a particular market sector. Beware those who offer ” Top 10 rankings guaranteed” Such companies are often soliciting a quick fix where you could end up with a website removed from search altogether.

A professional who can provide advice with expertise and knowledge of your market sector is invaluable.

Hah, Joost, he’s just pissed off that Stunty, Dixon and Jim Boykin outrank him for it ;)

And the fact that Greg is just below him, I suspect may not be wholly unconnected

Don’t go for company’s that guarantee Top 10 rankings?

This is from the Greenlight SEO page (http://www.greenlightsearch.com/seo/):

    “Guaranteed results

Using this we are able to create page 1 search engine rankings, on the higher traffic and more sought after keywords. We do this faster than any other agency, and can guarantee results.”

So.. One of the biggest SEO companies in the UK - offering guaranteed top 10 results - your comments please?

Yep Mark what you trying to rank for ? ;) Marketing Norwich? What’s guaranteed in any industry?

  10. 10. Mark | August 19th 2008 @ 11:16 am

I’m just after your point of view.. If some of the bigger players are claiming guaranteed rankings, where does that leave everyone else?

If you were the cigar chomper for MegaTech Corp, you gonna go with guaranteed or non-guaranteed?

Just interesting that even on the Google “choosing an SEO” guidelines, they specify nobody has a special relationship with Google or can guarantee rankings - yet we get stuff like this..

I think it’s fair to say through experience you can predict certain market sectors and indeed have a “feel” for competitive terms within those industries. Good point though Mark, personally I wouldn’t rush into lavish statements about guarantees.

As a cigar chomper i’d probably go with the company which could demonstrate a good ROI and had proven results in a diverse range of market sectors.

As for special relationships with the Search Engines, that’s plain rubbish. If this were true we would all be doing some other work.

So Fixers also are present in SEO marketing…

    Mark,

    They buy links too.

  14. 14. Mark | August 20th 2008 @ 2:24 pm

    @Gary

Do you mean for clients or their own sites?

  15. 15. Gary Beal | August 20th 2008 @ 2:32 pm

Its easy enough to find out about their own sites - just check it through Yahoo Site Explorer.

As far as their clients sites, yes, they did for Mecca Bingo, FlyMonarch and GoCompare (I believe those were the 3) and all got pinged.

  16. 16. Andy Smith | August 20th 2008 @ 2:32 pm

They buy links to their own “content network”, the sites they’ve paid to host their articles and so therefore their clients!

  17. 17. Andy Smith | August 20th 2008 @ 2:35 pm

I know they were buying links for search marketing related terms a while back, I recall them ranking for search engine optimisation then disappearing after sites lost PR for buying links - Think it was through them removing the links rather than G tho
