Search Engine Optimisation way funny

23.12.08

Just had a very weird search engine optimisation enquiry and it went like this :

Potential Client : Hi we’re looking for a company  to help with our search engine optimisation, but we are not allowed to link back to you.

SEO : what ?

Potential Client  : we are not allowed to link back to you

SEO : why would I want you to do that, kinda defeats the the whole search engine optimisation thing

Potential Client : what, you won’t make us link back to you ?

SEO : nope and linking to Google, Yahoo and MSN doesn’t help your rankings either.. hahaha

Potential Client  : that’s not funny we where told it helped

SEO : Sorry, how about you have a quick chat with Dave (I get an IM say speak to this guy they want SEO, but we are not allowed to link back to them.)

Potential Client : ok

Me : Hello Dave speaking, what’s this about SEO and Linking back to you?

Potential Client : My manager has asked me to find a company that can handle SEO that don’t require a link back to the SEO company, He has spoken to two companies but on further inspection they require us to link back to them.

me : what, not sure what you mean “further inspection”.

Potential Client : we searched www.google.co.uk for search engine optimisation, then we checked the backlinks in Yahoo site explorer ….

me : hahaha holy shit that’s really sad, still laughing I asked how he found me ?

Potential Client : I searched Google for  Google Approved SEO

me  : Lets meet up in the new year for a Beer …

I have always found upgrading WP is such a hassle. Apparently this latest version 2.7 is the last manual update, and from here on it will allow auto updating by clicking a button Dave.

Should help to plug a few security gaps floating around in older WP installs.

I don’t get it, the top result doesn’t seem to have any links from its clients?
