Please forgive such a basic question… So a UK ip address has no impact for ranking on Google.co.uk after all?

If you already have a .com the location of your host is important IMO. I know WMT lets you choose but where your host is is more than just about IP (speed issues, speed of response to downtime etc.)

Best is .co.uk with UK based IP and with a .com I would always suggest UK based IP, but that’s just my experience. Also for Bing make sure your language is set as en-gb as it’s pretty dumb (seems to ignore IP location sometimes from what I have seen)

Dude, I’m really interested in this one. What leads you to beleive that IP is not important?

I am pretty sure, but not tested, that if I moved my .com to a US server that it would drop a few spots in the UK listings.

Can anyone share any results on the use of a content delivery network?

The TLD (top level domain) of IBLs’ (inbound links). If you have a lot of links from .uk sites, you’re British. If you have lots from .fr sites, you’re French. If you have lots from .edus, you’re a spammer. Wait…

Dont give the secrets away TallTroll lol !

.ifo and .edu are still classed as trusted domains and will get PR quicker than you can say “do me for spam” This seems to be a hole in the Google algorythym buty it still works, seems to bypass the sandbox.

In some niches is very important to get listed in google.co.uk better than in google.com I have some sites listed # 1 in google.com and listed #10 in google.co.uk but I get more traffic form .co.uk and the adwords keywords tool shows more traffic from USA than UK.

Do you have list for UK web directory? Because the more backlinks I get from .com websites make my web rank position even further down in Google UK.

I rank No.1 in google .com for four of my preferred keywords but in google.co.uk I am placed between 10 and 20 for the same keywords – eventhough the server is in the UK. I suspect that the main thing needed to get better ranking in google.co.uk is more good quality links from .co.uk domains.

So I can get ranking on my TLD alone, and not the IP interesting going to give it a shot.
