He assumes this representative who bashed the NHS should be giving credit for his healthy constituency to the NHS. There are a lot of reasons those stats could sound good, it’s not just b/c of the NHS (active lifestyles, the old people move out of his county before they bite the dust, etc) .
As an American in the UK, i have to say I have benefited from the easy to use system in place here and I am grateful to it – but fundamentally, my American forefathers didn’t set up my country’s government to look after the health of individuals. That’s an individuals responsiblity. Plus, Medicaid is in place, so poor Americans who can’t afford the typical private health insurance do receive the help they need.
The tories are just like the republicans in the US. Spread complete lies and fear to make the crowd believe your point of you.
I think there’s a saying: You judge a people by how they treat their worst off.
lol good old prezza. Quite liked the speach Hanman gave in the EU a couple of months ago but think he really overstepped the mark with these interviews in US. Must be being paid by drugs companies, or just loves the sound of his own voice.

wrong!
They got the basics. Often they get useless therapy. Im in the medical industrie (in europe, and its the same over there in US) and i know that they got less effectiv medicine and often have useless scrutinies just to make the systems make more money. Im absolutly sure, that a Lens Armstrong and others who can pay for, win their cancer fighting because of better medical threatment and medicine. I know, because i know the product names they got and the prices.
Medicine today is a two class systeme and – thats becoming more drastic by rising prices because of the evolving medical possibilitys of today.
I think people are really missing the point of this. In the UK we have a national health system in place which is not perfect, but provides a pretty high standard of health care for everyone- regardless of their financial position in society, but we also have the option of private health care in such an instance where the NHS cannot accomodate a response fast enough. This is a choice available to every one in the UK ,because, as many im sure realise, the NHS waiting lists are primarily for an initial consultation- not treatment. so a six month wait can be averted with a £100.00 payment for a consultant, who will the organise the relevant programme of treatment, often within a few days.
In the US, i feel that even their own poeple who had not thus far had to endure a medicaid or county general level of treatment have absolutely no idea of the terrible, third world like standards of health care that these facilities provide.
Interesting to see alot of knee jerk responses to very simple propoganda from people of a country who seem to pride themselves on free thinking, yet are steered by two speeches and negative publicity tv advertising without considering the facts themselves.
Have any of the doubters of a state health system for the usa stopped to consider where the money is coming from to fund the estimated $6.5million a DAY negative publicity campaign going on at the moment in the US? the medical insurance companies of course. Thats 2.3 billion a year- how much assistance would that give to kick start a state funded health service?
Im a father of two who has had the benefit of travelling to several other countries and experiencing snapshots of the types of service available in other countries. would i change our health service for that of the us? not in a million!
