Google is doing some strange things, for eg yesterday we ranked No.1 in the .com for “Liz Taylor Murdered” now the page in the serps is at….wait for it no.63. Perhaps other blogs are much better and more specific, or give more valued information. How is Google discerning the ranking positions ? One day number one, the next number 63.

Had the page been dropped due to the nature of the story ? If so, should it not be totally removed ? Answers on a post card please..

There’s an email spam campaign going the rounds for more than the last month with titles in this format:

    $celebrity_name found dead $fake_circumstances

Open the email to install the virus.

    Or just delete and ignore.

    .

The various “CNN Alerts” and “CNN Top Ten” emails also contain malware.

Similarly odd things happening to a client of mine. One day and for some time before , #8, day 2 page 2, week 2, page 8…? Very stable site with good domain age for years. No penalties or anything.. odd stuff indeed.

If it was a blog post, it could be that it’s been pushed off the first page of your blog by more recent posts, and now the link to the that post isn’t on your highly ranked page.

We’ve noticed it on a couple of occasions, we rank really highly for our post title almost immediately, then a couple of days later we’re pages away.
