Learning SEO in Yorkshire

Like I said at the very start learning the ropes of SEO isn’t that easy. I’m still constantly reading all those search engine blogs and keep gaining quality advice from those around me.

The thing I love about working here is the variation that you get, in other words no one day is the same.

I set a little challenge for myself to target a keyword and see how well I could get it to rank in the SERPS.

Purely experimental and to see what happened:

SEO Yorkshire

Current search results:

SEO Yorkshire

A combination of my rather novice efforts at Web Design Yorkshire and the Internet Marketing blog I started all helped with the process.

Now ranks at position 3,4,5,6 - OK it’s not the most competitive keyword but for me at least it’s a start. Each day you learn something different, at least that’s the aim.

Question is what to do with it now ? Suggestions please.

Dave thinks the whole exercise is somewhat ‘girly’ but recognises the valued learning experience.

Already though i’m finding people with valuable experience are willing to help you more and more and not just keep information to themselves.

Hey guys, I have just learned the description meta tag might be deprisiated!

Try searching “blah blah blah” of your description meta tag for a specific page in Google, with quotes.

You will get not found. I not only tried it for my site but for other site as well.

Now when you use Google site: command the description shows up!!!

So how will the description meta tag keywords will behave in a natural search results without the quotes? My feeling they are irrelevant. Can someone else confirm this?

Well, had you chosen London over Yorkshire, you might have encountered the might of the London SEO pissup crowd… drinks and SEO - Nothing like a bit of serious SEO with a pint!

I’m also trying very hard to learn everything about SEO. Can’t you start giving trainings or something like the SEO Ninja training.

I think the only people who can give proper SEO training are Google. That’s not going to happen though …

2Dare: I don’t agree I have been to many Google trainings and I can’t say I learned a lot. I would rather have Davids training. (He is one of my biggest examples in the seo business).

If its not Google training on SEO , then i wonder what any other company can tell me about google’s own algorithm.

Yorkshire SEO for Yorkshire website’s by eck. Does anyone remember the search engine Meta Ferret? It should have been the Yorkshireman’s search engine of choice and I can’t even find any trace of it on Google anymore- shame there was never a Meta Whippet.
