seriously, I have been looking at my travel expenses, and came up with the I’m getting shafted here, ages ago on Farecompare I read how business travellers get screwed over all the time, but when you look at the fact you spend 50K gbp on airline tickets in a year you start to feel that’s something is going wrong here..

btw I’m only bitching due to trying to find tickets to South Africa, Copenhagen, Las Vegas (no not pubcon ! ), and after getting ripped 2 weeks back for my Seattle trip, I think that a team of elite SEO’s should just buy a plane !

anyway a couple of good reads are

Your own private plane would help on all the time spent on security checks too. Would it be a Bronco plane?

My brother got his private license a few years ago and let me tell you it feels great to fly in to Vegas on your own plane. The problem is that you have to fly into the general aviation airport that is 20 miles outside of town…but it is still better than commercial flights.

There are definitely some bargains to be had but probably not for you business folk ;)

Ive just picked up a couple of return flights to Trivandrum with Emirates (stop over in Dubai) for £400 each, which I thought was great. Flew Ryanair to Haugesund, Norway last month for £17 return.

Well if enough people were interested we could buy fractional ownership with NetJets or something – $400,000 gets I think 1/8 of a citation or something, plus monthly fees… If all the SEO folks got together I think we could pull it off.

    DaveN, its fuel prices.
Oil at 95 usd, so you have to pay higher fuel surcharge.

You should email me and my travel company will hook you up.
We get great air ticket ptices for flights originating in UK.

Checkout Jetstar in Australia for some 5 cent fares – traffic brought their server down yesterday. Competition brings down the prices, oil drives them back up. Expect it to get worse not better until we have less demand for oil not more…

Dammit… soon as I leave South Africa, seems all the SEOs can’t wait to get there. Sigh.
Anyway, I’m of the opinion that flights to SA always seem to be a rip; no matter where I am in the world, when I book a return trip it turns out that SA seems to be the most expensive destination on their books!

Sorry Dave but 50k Travel spend is too small to get any real discounts. Best bet, speak to a decent travel management company who have their own discounts already. Drop me an email if you need any pointers ;)
