HTC TyTNII … awesome

by

HTC TyTNII

As you can see I have had and still own a quite a few Smart phones. and the HTC TyTNII is by far the best, just a
few features I like

GPS on Live Maps can’t wait until I’m in Cape Town to try that out more.
Traffic Tv which lets you view motorway Cameras so you can see real time traffic flow

EMAIL ! yes finally something to compare to a blackberry !!

the New MS Mobile 6 OS is faster and better imo, the only fault i have is Orange’s interface I prefer the Original HTC one

But look at It’s battery charger … it’s an eeepc wow !

Htc and EEEPC

Gadget freak and Mobile Phone collector..

I got the HTC 710i and think it’s sweet. Once we get the Exchange server up and running smoothly again, I’ll have all my email at my finger tips. Actually like the screen and internet browser too.

What an awfull name the new has, eh? HTC TyTNII, eeewww! ;)

It’s impossible to get lost here in Cape Town. Put your HTC down and just navigate using the mountain!

I’m not sure what connectivity the HTC uses, but data costs in South Africa tend to be somewhat expensive.
Make sure your package isn’t going to cost you a fortune for the bandwidth you’ll use during your stay.

Is there no HTC ROM available at http://xda-developers.com/ yet? I found a Windows Mobile 6 ROM there for my TyTN…

Yeah, Jonathan’s right… Cape Town is pretty much impossible to get lost in, what with such a big ass landmark dominating!
That said, navigating like a sailor might not be as cool as using a phone… :P
    Enjoy the trip Dave.

I played a while whit this great toy! It’s awesome. Especially the screen. HTC is pushing HP out of the arena mostly because they make “feature rich” devices. I owned one previously (Qtek 9100), but now i’m stuck with MDA Pro. If i would choose new device, it would be TyTNII. :D

I’m just coming to the end of an 18 month contract with Orange on my M3100 (TyTN) and I’m stuck as to which PPC to choose next. I would have gone for the TyTN11 but it’s been out a while. I think at the mo I like the Touch Cruise but I think it’s only available (or will be) on O2 in the UK which have shity data plans – why can’t things be simple!

I have had a love hate relationship with my TyTn. The functionality is great and it offered everything I wanted from a phone. I also use exchange so it worked seamlessly with that. Unfortunately Windows Mobile is still buggy as hell, it crashes a lot and the touch screen plays up all the time. I upgraded to WM6 and it was better but not ideal.

I think I am leaning towards the Nokia E90 for my next phone, it is a brick but you can always rely on Nokia and symbian. I am still tempted with the new Tytn, I dont think anything can really compete with it feature wise.

Timely post – thanks Dave. I’m just thinking about what to get to replace my (very mobile 1.0) phone.

Considering blackberry, Nokia E61, a couple of others, and now this one.

Anyone got any comment on the others I’m considering?

I went with HTC for a few years, but now love my Nokia Communicator E90. The iPhone for nerds like me…

I have Glofish X500, much more cheaper than all HTC with the same functions + GPS – extra keybord (it sucks anyway), best choice i think.

I have a MDA Vario III (still based on the HTC Kaiser platform) and it is great!. I haggled to get the handset for free on a 18 month Flext 35 + W’n'W+. Managed to get £5 off my monthly bill too.

Love this phone. Hey Dave, have you tried using ‘Lincoln’

I looked at the same phone as I had the model before.
I but i knew I’d always wonder why I didn’t get an iPhone.
So I got the iPhone – once the SDK is released I don’t think there will be any competition for dot com business owners, seos, webmaster.

    Iphone all the way

I’ve had an imate jam, then a HTC Tytn which I upgraded myself to WM6 (from the XDA Developers site) — vast improvement over WM5.

I tried a Sony P990 for a short while and absolutely hated it.

I’m now looking at Tytn2 but its even bigger and heavier than the Tytn — I’d love a Touch Cruise, but on Vodafone — def. want GPS!

the iphone looks great — just wish it had HSDPA and not locked to O2.

If only WM6 could get a browser like the iphone’s

I’m saving my money for an iphone. I got to demo one so I could check out my sites. The zoom feature is the best. I could see every detail on my site by panning and zooming. It is not a great phone for email like the TyTNII but I can live with that. Hopefully they will offer some other service provider (other than AT&T) soon so it will have coverage and functionality.

I’ve been deliberating the TyTN II recently – http://blog.jofftastic.co.uk/2008/01/i-think-i-need-an-iphone/

Dave (or anyone else with a Kaiser), what’s the handset like for use as a normal mobile phone? Can I access an address book and make a call without using the stylus? All the demo’s I’ve seen show how great it is surfing the Internet but nothing for using it as a bloody phone!

If you don’t know Cape Town, then you can get lost – even if there is a bloody great big mountain to navigate by!

    Hey,
GOt the TYTNII Love it. Have it as an unlocked on ATT. It is same as ATT TILT but without the Medianet BS. You don’t need it. Companies like Handango.com offer a million add-on’s

Someone asked about if the TyTnII could look like an I-phone. The answer: YEP, Here is the site: http://www.piranhastudio.com/mobile/iphone_theme_video2.php

Wondering who has GPS with voice service and which is best. I am currently using GoogleMaps and it works well, but it would be nice to have a little voice telling you “turn right in 500 feet”

MobiTV is excellent on the TYTNII.
I also saw that there was a TV service on Handango site for a bunch of free chanels no monthly like MOBITV. Anyone use it?

I am also looking for a Bluetooth headset that broadcasts Telephone through both ears. I have the Motorola S9 it rocks but phone only comes in on one speaker. Any help???
