yer I know it’s against the grain at the moment to say that Knol should be ranking, but at the end of the day the how to backpack is a good well written article with over 74 comments, and our industry leaders like Danny Sullivan linking to it ..

do you really belief that new domains still have to wait.. ok online poker might be hard, but how to backpack.. quality content and authority links on a trusted sub domain ?

Last night I looked into why this knol ranks #6 and concluded that it’s because of all the links it got from being the featured knol when Knol launched. Here’s more info: http://sphinn.com/story/61219#c49448

of course the real question why does google decide to trust their own domains right out of the bat, while other new domains have a … waiting period.
