The Crap Points :
1) It’s just a front-end to WebKit with all the cool bits pulled
2) Where are my Plugins
3) Privacy policy and default install scare me a little, if people think Mozilla is bad ho hum
The Awesome points:
1) It’s Fast, but then Firefox is fast when you first install it slows down with the more plugins you NEED
2) It’s create Application is awesome and that alone will be the reason I use it, but not has a browser so work?
3) Supports Flash and Java on install at least the current versions couldn’t find how to update flash thou ?
So Google Chrome a Firefox replacement it isn’t. Nobody is going to use chrome has a browser it’s just not finished, I feel that Google where pressured into releasing a half baked product because IE8 Version 2 was realesed 3 days ago, I do feel that the core engine is very very good and If Mozilla or IE can expand on it cool.. I believe that pictures paint a 1000 words so
Opera, Internet Explorer and Firefox

Okay, so no add-ons as yet, makes the page appear really high up. You would think that they would have at least released a Google Toolbar to go with it. Just another browser at the minute.

This is exactly the signature of a disruptive technology. It is not ready to race the “big cars” (yet) but it beats them hands down for at least one thing (app shortcuts) that you want. That’s gets the Chrome foot in your door. Over time, as Google improves Chrome (and you know they have the both the resources and mindset to do so), that foot will grow to eventually displace (at least a respectable share) of the others.
“Nobody is going to use chrome as a browser”
I will, and I do already. I used to run two browsers because some sites didn’t render correctly or didn’t work at all in FireFox and I had to use Exploder for them. I tried Safari, Opera, and even MyIE — I still had to run two browsers.
Well, I’m running one now. Guess which one?
Yeah I have similar thoughts to it as well.
The lack of extensions/plugins is a killer for me, I need them for both my work and just to make my life easier.
However it is still in beta and Firefox has had a lot longer to mature.
I can see it becoming my secondary browser though. As I work on Firefox I like to keep my Google accounts logged out for various reasons including paranoia. So I like to have one browser open for my Google stuff like reader/gmail/webmaster tools etc so it would make sense to have the Google browser for my Google stuff.
I know they have tried to avoid integrating Google too much into it, but it would be quite nice if they offered some extensions to seamlessly manage all your Google stuff.
Overall it is not a bad browser, and given some time to mature I think it could gain quite a decent market share. It would take a hell of a lot to beat Firefox though
