Hotels in Ripon Google Local Mixup
So I was just looking to see how my The Old Deanery was doing for hotels in ripon, I asked Dave why it wasn’t ranking as well as the others – he rightly pointed out that it was obviously my title tags (I’m still learning). But then he noticed something really strange:

So if you look at the listing for The Old Deanery, their anchor text for the link is “Best Western Ripon Spa Hotel” – if you click the link it goes to www.theolddeanery.co.uk.
Best Western Ripon Spa Hotel happen to be their biggest competitor in Ripon – although they tend to refer each other when they get fully booked.
Weird huh? Has anyone else experienced this? Anyone know what is causing it?
Added by DaveN The Deanery has been one of my Favorite Hotels in Ripon for a long time, and if i ever get Into gear I will have a mini conference there I just need a push !

http://www.gencia.co.uk/Our company is experiencing similar issues:
http://www.gencia.co.uk/blog/index.cfm/2009/5/8/Google-Local-Business-Ranking-Issues
For us, it’s not as big an issue as yours, as it’s combining 2 of our own listings, though with title tag displaying Email Marketing instead of Bluetooth Marketing you’d presume the likelihood of someone clicking through would drop.
From following the link in the article to the Google support forum it is clear that we’re not the only ones suffering from this, though apparently Google’s developers are aware and working on the issue……
