Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

20.07.07

So the release date is just about upon us and on the news this morning there are already queues of people waiting for the opportunity to buy the 7th and last Harry Potter book. The release time is 00.01am on the 21st July.

As this is the last Harry Potter book that JK Rowling is releasing there has been a huge amount of speculation what happens at the end. Does Harry die? Hmmm or is it just a marketing hype to get people buying the book? The ending of the book was apparently drafted 2 years ago as it is a culmination of all the 6 previous books. Deathly Hallows is meant to be very close to Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, almost like the other half of the book.

The success of Harry Potter has been phenomenal with over 325 million copies being sold. JK Rowling is estimated to be worth £545 million ($1 billion) and is the 136th richest person in the world. You have to wonder how an author can become so rich and successful… is it that the books ( a children’s book at that ) retails out in the UK at £17.99 … How much!! ASDA (large supermarket) is fighting against this and selling the books at £5 … looks like I’ll be heading there then for my copy. Will just need to find time to read it. Maybe I’ll just read the last chapter to find if if Harry Potter is dead or not.

If anyone finds time to read Deathly Hallows over the weekend can you save me the trouble of reading it and let me know the ending!

There was a story about JK Rowling on E! Entertainment, they said she sold the first harry potter book to thepublishing company for only $3,000 and of course was paid for each book that sold. Imagine the profit margin the publishing company made off of that deal.

    Hi there!
I’ve just finished book 7 and I’m a bit confused. Perhaps the person who’s read it 3 times will know the answer. How did Neville get the Gryffindor sword? Last thing I remember is the the Goblin running off with it in the Gringotts vault and Harry and Co having to find other ways of destroying the horcrux’s. Did I miss something?
    Thanks

Who decides which books get press (Harry Potter) and which get censored? After all, censorship is becoming America’s favorite past-time. The US gov’t (and their corporate friends), already detain protesters, ban books like “America Deceived” from Amazon and Wikipedia, shut down Imus and fire 21-year tenured, BYU physics professor Steven Jones because he proved explosives, thermite in particular, took down the WTC buildings. Free Speech forever (especially for books).
Last link (before Google Books caves to pressure and drops the title):

To answer the question about sword once and for all:
“In one swift, fludit motion, Neville has broken free off the Body-Bind curse upon him;the flaming Hat fell of him, and he drew from its depths something silver, with a glittering rubied handle”

Nevile did it the same way Harry did it in Chamber of Secrets, he was a true Griffyindor, and that enabled him to get the sword…
