Google Operators move to Sitemaps

by

Google Operators move to Sitemaps, well not yet but i think it’s about to happen.

I have had a few IM’s on this, so I thought I’d have a quick look and here is my take on it..

Ok for people that haven’t got a clue what a Google operator is :

search for your domain name : www.davidnaylor.co.uk hmmm that’s bust .. lol ok try www.davidnaylor.co.uk

Ok the :

these are Operators.

anyway, site: and link: have been playing up. Ok here is my Best GUESS

Sitemaps will soon be the only way to get site: and link: information, which sucks but makes sense. Why should Google tell you how many people link to MY site !! or how many pages i have indexed.

time will tell but i think soon ,.. Or maybe it’s the final part of the new google data structure ;)

I posted about this at DP

The whole way the handle the navigational queries has changed. Search for http://www.domain.com and they show results as if you searched for “www.domain.com”.

Can you fit http://www.bignamebrand.com into your title? ;)

    Nice post dave,

which sucks but makes sense why should google tell you how many people link to MY site !!

Maybe I am misunderstanding that, but since day 1 of this Webmaster Central I can easily plug a competitors site and track all of the operators in one easy place! Thanks Google its saving me time by having a list of all my competition with the click of a mouse button or two. :)

I can’t remember where exactly Matt Cutts said that this was a good idea but he was talking about Yahoo when he referenced it, maybe in his last video?

Makes sense to me, some day you will have to log into Google, Yahoo and maybe even MSN to find data, this way they can ID you as either a spammer, a kind of spammer or a trusted network matrix contributor…er or something like that! :)
