Google - DoubleClick Deal Cleared

Now that the Federal Trade Commission have cleared the merger with DoubleClick, I wonder what the impact will be on online advertising in general ? Microsoft were quick to purchase aQuantive.

With guidelines issued from the F.T.C  stating that web sites should be more open about personal information delivered in targeted advertising and opt-out options improved will the big players take any notice?

Isn’t the European version of the FTC (sorry I’m ignorant on how the government is setup across the pond ;)) still undecided? Without that approval, the deals not going to happen.

That is what I was wondering. How will this affect ads in Europe?

The merger is another step towards advertising domination by Google. I MSN and Yahoo get things ramp up in 2008 or they may soon be history. Competition is great for everyone so I hate to see Google be the only player in town.

Do you think that they’ll give the average joe seo (i.e. dave naylor & co) the same inside access to data, processes, etc. that performics will have?
