and all I got was this :

Dave,
Wasn’t there something about G Checkout and US based only? I thought this was applicaple only to the vendors that they’ll let use this service but perhaps something related to transactions as well?
Did you ask your CC company if there are any blocks on ‘suspicious’ web sites using your CC? I have something similar on one of my cards and they blocked a transaction with amazon.com…lol

Mike, see http://L4X.org/ for the ShowIP extension for Mozilla and Firefox.
The latest version is 0.8.03 – I couldn’t get 0.8.02 to work.

http://www.thebilliondollarpatent.comI checked out “Google-checkout”.
The overall process seems to be very easy but exactly that makes this solution very vulnerable. During checkout there was no security question to make sure that I’m indeed the owner of the Google account or the associated Credit Cards in that account. Of course I used my username and password but because there are so many Google sites, using the same username and password, it is very easy to loose your login information on a hijacking page as you might not check the url for Ad-Words or Gmail every time you log on as those services never had the possibility to shop with your Credit Card.
Now because you have one account and login information for all it is quite possible that hackers will try to get your login information from any Google service out there! Even worth is the fact that the hacker can change the password without any problem. The owner of the account might not even get any information about the password change as the e-mail is sent to the according and hijacked Gmail account.
Because of this HUGE security risk I would not recommend using Google checkout!
Please checkout the http://www.thebilliondollarpatent.com as s-registration solution that Google should have implemented in their service to make it solid and secure. This solution is requiring a third credential called TAN to make sure that ONLY the owner of that account is able to shop online even in case the account is hijacked.
I hope that everybody is aware of the security issue with Google checkout and will inform Google of a better solution!
Thanks and be safe;-)))!!

How did google get the DNS entry “google” ? I think the world’s ISP’s are slowly updating, as if you type just google into a browser it goes to the http://www.google.com website?
How the hell are they allowed to do this???
DaveN 2004 days ago
Luke I think it likey you have something installed on your system …
Ian 2004 days ago
Luke – alternatively you are using Firefox, in which case it has a built in Google “I’m Feeling Lucky” search in the address bar. It’s very useful.
RichieP 2003 days ago
Firefox does it. Any plain text typed in the address bar of firefox will perform a google search and go to the first result.
Works for loads of things/companies.

“Oops”! Ha ha! I hate when sites like Google (this being an example) and Bebo try to make their content humorous. If you upload something on Bebo, it says “This will take a moment, could be two, even three1″ It isn’t really funny. This is another example where Google try to make it humorous but really, it’s not.
