And curiously the sitemaps tab in the console also shows 8 links. Has anyone actually tried blocking a sitelink? Wonder what happens?

Sorry - my nope was meant to be that this isn’t only in the UK.
I’ve had 8 links all day today from Irish IP.

I’ve been noticing this for about 2 weeks or so. Try reloading if you don’t get the 8, some that do show 8 for me don’t do it all the time.

What is the purpose of google allowing you to block pages from the sitelinks, how would this be beneficial for a web site?

I’ve got a client with Sitelinks, and a week or so ago, there were only 5 in Google Webmaster Tools, but now there are 8 there (and 8 show up on a search for their name). I’m really curious as to how they generate them algorithmically.

SEL has talked about this already but I’m yet to see it in the UK, think they’re still testing. Clicking on that link only shows 4 sitelinks for me.
