Yes it’s that time again Gmail is down. Even the BBC have posted a news item this time on the gmail outage. The service has been down since roughly 9.30 this morning.

Personally, I love the Gmail service for the sheer amount of storage space it offers, but it’s only when you can’t access the mail service you realise just how much valuable information is stored in there. Interesting that the G1 mobile phone accesses the mail OK though.

Google are working quickly to restore the service and hit their service level agreements. It’s not the first time Gmail problems have hit business users either.

I found that from on Sunday I couldn’t log into my gmail. It told me the user name and password don’t match. Is this the same problem everybody else is experiencing? The worrying thing is I can’t log into my myspace and facebook that have the same username and password. Does antbody know whats going on?

I recently turned on ‘offline files’ so that I can access old emails and create drafts if there is another outage. Unfortunately, I had to turn it off again yesterday because it screwed up the layout!

I have been using Google email now for several years and never had any problems until about 8months ago. The problem of accessing my email was a occasional HTML to be used now it is a constant HTML and have to close and reopen my email several times before it opens otherwise it just show “Loading” and “Done” with a blank page displayed Most of the time the problem is during the early morning late afternoon and early night. Since this morning when attempting to open up my email a Google page is displayed after a while stating they are experiencing technical difficulty’s and I must try again in a few minutes.

This has now been going on for several hours and is starting to become a real issue. My problem is all the data stored in my emails.

I do consider making use of a other search engine if the problem persist.

Any body have any idea who can be contacted regarding this problem or how it can be solved? I am in South Africa.

    Hi ALL!

I was working regularly on Gmail right now (19th March 10h30 GMT – Lisbon Time) and it just stopped working, trying to find an internet connection, which is up&running.

    Is it another break down?
    Anyone experiencing the same problem?

    Kind Regards,

I have had nothing but trouble connecting since 18.03.09. It stays on loading then a blank page and done. When it eventually does decide to work If I am lucky I can view and send emails in HTML. I have sent this email address out looking for work and it is really getting on my wick when I have to wait until midday to see if I have any suitable jobs sent to me.

I agree with the last posting, no problems with gmail until recently, and certainly in the last few days I have experienced an extremely annoying lagging when typing messages with lots of missed letters. Don’t know what is going on. Now I can’t seem to open the page at all. Maybe time for a change…..

Today, 8 April 2009, I have no access to Gmail since this morning, though I see no mention of this in any news items. For a few minutes Google itself was down (at least downforeveryoneorjustforme.com tells me so). Another email service, connected to the Irish Times, is also down. Everythng else seems to work. Any confirmation ?

At the bottom right corner of the page as you log into Gmail is a link saying “Load basic HTML”. If you click those words you will get all your emails opened in a non Javascript version of your mailbox. Google is amazing and their service is free. They are very reliable for this type of service. Cut them some slack and I’m sure that they will have it back up shortly. But for now, above is the shortcut to make it work!

What do you mean cut them some slack as they will have it up shortly? Since our company have used Google to host our email, we’ve had nothing but intermittent downtime. It’s HORRIBLE, I hope google is reading this and resolves this issue. Around noon everyday their network gets terribly sluggish. My email is important and too much downtime is not good!

Comeon google, we need some help here!

I have been unable to receive mail for two days. A password is requested, and it will not accept the password I’ve used for ages on this account. I presume this is Google’s fault; not mine. How about getting the system running again. I’d ask for a follow up, but that would be a waste of time

Google horrendously slow the past 2 days!

Have had to use HTML only version to get any kind of response.
    - Even then you have to do all the things you want to do quickly. If you have more than 5 mins of inactivity, it seems to hang again, and you have to relaunch your browser and start again.

Same problem whether using Firefox 3.0.8 or IE6.

Is there a way to make GOOGLE aware of how people are suffering?

I’ve been having problems with Gmail for two months now, and I think I narrowed down the problem. After the most recent Gmail crash where they routed too much information through their servers in Asia and almost brought down most of the web, my Gmail wouldn’t work on my Mac “G4 Power PC” computer. My cousin has a Mac G5 Power PC computer and her Gmail wont work as well. BUT it does work on any new Mac “Intel” based computer, or on any PC that I’ve tried it on. Now I’m not going to go buy a new Mac or a new PC just to get my Gmail to work, I can’t afford that. So I hope they fix it soon and don’t forget about us Gmailers using older computers.

I have been using googlemail [address as above] for quite some time now. however, just lately I cannot log-in to googlemail using my original details. Why?
It is terribly frustrating trying to log-in only to be told that there is no record of me, and then the pure hell of constantly being asked, ” did you mean Richard Carroll@googlemail.

When will this be sorted out? I’m not too computer literate, so find constantly attempting to access googlemail is driving me around the bloody bend!!!

Gmail has been down and out for more than 8 hours today (26 Sept 2009), and it is still unaccessible. It has been having problems like slow mail very, very frequently, but it has been out for an hour or so at most, though it has occurred many times.

This is the worst of the worst so far. It has become totally unreliable.

Damn, I’m taking my email elsewhere. I can’t put my trust on unreliability. And google search is supposedly to be competing intensively with Bing.
