- Ripon

As well as my SEO and conferencing hats I wear, I am also supporting a really worthwhile project in Ripon that is desperate for cash to complete the building work. The project is Community House and is going to coordinate all of the voluntary services in Ripon and the surrounding area of 240 square miles. I had a tour yesterday with Stuart Martin, the Mayor of Ripon, and was overwhelmed by the size of the project they had taken on. Basically the building stood empty for 25 years so needed completely gutting which has cost them 1.8 million GBP. The restoration has brought this building up to modern day standards with full internet access throughout and disabled facilities, catering for people with learning difficulties, single parents, the elderly and the disabled.
They are in need of 50,000 GBP to keep the builders on site to be able to finish the project by December. I pledged 5,000 GBP straight away, and I am going to be really cheeky and ask if any one out there has any money burning a hole in their pocket and would like to donate to a good cause? If you can help by pledging a donation please contact me directly, or contact Ripon CVS who are the main fundraisers for Community House.

Hi, I noticed the interested font for your H1 tags in the post
However, I can’t find that defined in your CSS.
I’ve added your site to my feedreader, so I’ll check back, but feel free to write at my e-mail address if you have time to tell me what font it is and where I’m missing the style sheet (if I am?) Thanks!
Kelley
gotta get in the call to action link Dave… can u put a donate here link in the post?
The H1 is defined in the home.css stylesheet, just the class=”post-99″ isn’t defined. The h1 style is close to the embedded flash which is making it interact a little funky with the CSS.
But looks like a great cause! So close to finishing and only need a little more after so much has been invested. I hope this gets them a step closer.
Good on you Dave! It’s great to see the commercial sector getting involved.
BTW the local authority can get a massive amont of funding, support, assistance, matched funding, yadayada, if they are on the case (e.g. they know what they are doing).
We get involved in loads of things in Cheshire, getting to know local authority officers (mainly senior) who really know what they can do is illuminating.
good on you M8 - I hope it makes a difference
The Mayor and the Ripon CVS have applied for every sort of funding available and put it to good use… they can’t get any more so need private sector help to raise the final 50,000 GBP.
Thanks Jason. Good luck with Community House. It’s late here in the states, so I’ll check back this weekend. I have some thoughts about what you’ve been writing about and the business of Web design. Ta!
