Free Google Analytics Call Tracking on the UK Market
Yes you heard it hear first (probably), SwitchboardFree is offering free Google Analytics Call Tracking. Basically it works by recording an event in Google Analytics sent by SwitchboardFree’s call tracking software.
You also get two free 0844 or 0843 phone numbers with the account, although unfortunately it doesn’t look like there is an option for freephone numbers if you upgrade – although perhaps there will be if you ask.
So all you peeps out there who are sick of not being able to record an accurate ROI from Google AdWords can finally sleep easy at night.

Actually having signed up for this I think I might be missing the point… and indeed have got all excited over not very much…
You have to assign just one number to just one traffic source.
Eg
1 number for Google Organic
1 number for Google PPC
1 number for direct traffic
1 number for Yahoo Organic
etc etc etc
They are all 0844 or 0843 which cost consumers I believe, 4.5p as a drop charge…not as nice for customers as an 0800!
Theres no way in GA to tell what traffic source or keyword generated the phonecall. How could there be?!
You are better off simply having your own 0800 numbers which are cheap as chips and assigning as many to different traffic sources or indeed down to keyword level as you can afford.

Must admit, the fact they ask you to setup a new number for every site or referral seems far to complicated and only benefit is to their revenue.
Surely the javascript code could handle multiple sites?
