Firewall Script

Ok one of my wifes favourite sayings at the moment is “busy idiots”, basically you are busy all the time but never focused enough to get things done. I have been looking at different open source solutions to stop 0 day expoilts, XSS hacks , and in fairness there are quite a few open source products out there, but the time and effort setting them up is just crazy, so I have decided to do a deal with Firewall Script. We are going to be including it in all our new wordpress client installs, I really like this product a lot, it’s easy to install and set up, so easy Dan almost did it here .. lol..

Anyway I want your points of view on it, the cost is just over £40, is it worth it? I mean have you ever tried to install modsecurity on a shared hosting platform?

Dave

This would be incredibly wonderful if it works. Something has to be done to deal with this problem, and sooner rather than later. Please don’t forget to keep us updated on any testing you do.

Given the fact wp is free to start with paying £40 to make it secure seems like a fair deal to me.

Yeah I think so. Especially when you consider how many businesses and marketers on the web can’t always afford great web developing resource. I think, well sold and marketed could make it worth your while as well as the customers. Let me know when you throw up the marketing page, I might be your customer! PS can you buy multiple licences? Also how will it deal with wordpress updates?

Is this your product? I can’t tell who makes it and I like to know who I buy security product from :)

Not mine, but I’m going to invest in the company if that helps..

I’ll echo Jeremy’s concern. The product looks nice, but very little is mentioned about the people or company. If you invest in the company you should make sure they put more info on their site about who they are. This is a basic cred issue. New domain, 1 yr reg, behind a proxy.

Anybody got this script working with osCommerce (2.2ms2) ? I spoke to the guys at FirewallScript and they did say they would help us do this but wondered if anyone already had?

Our hosts are recommending we upgrade to the latest version but this is a heavily customised install and would take weeks of work to upgrade. This script looks like a solution as there are known vulnerabilities to SQL injection in this version of osC.
