Easy Way to Stop Smoking update.

In July I posted my easy way to stop smoking A few people have asked me how I have got on.

OK I’m going to honest, I had a few smokes at smx in london, but funny enough I felt bad about doing that, it just wasn’t the same any more, the taste was wrong and the feeling you normally get when you smoke of being more relaxed was gone. generally it’s wasn’t an enjoyable experience, so I haven’t touched one since.

Lets talk weight gain late oh hum ! can you get Spanx for men ?

Dave

Whoa! Congrats mate. Good for you.
To honest I also touched a few here and there through X-mas, but apart from that I’m doing great. I miss smoking, but less and less. The test will be to see if I can hold up once I meet up with you again Dave :)

Been 8 days without any cigs, the first 3 days were the hardest.
I’m using nictoine patches, that helps a lot.

It just hard to imagine I will never smoke again…

It’s been 3 weeks for me now (2nd time, managed a year before). Patches are really effective as long as you come off them slowly - 20mg >15mg >10mg >7mg. You need about 5 weeks worth IMO so it’s not cheap.

I’m on the weight one next anyway Dave, bought a elliptical machine in the lounge and doing that each morning while I catch News24. We tried running, but getting up at 7 a.m. to scramble over the ice at -20C wasn’t going to last long ;0 Fair go to Anna though, she managed to keep me doing it for 2 weeks before giving in on the machine.

I gave up in 85 when my daughter was born - it was awful (being polite)

I went to Norway, where I worked as a DJ often, and stayed at a friends with my daughter and one of my ex wives.

I was under “house arrest” as two of the night club bouncers (where I worked) made sure I stayed in and away from fags (and cigarettes too) - after a few days I had the worse migraine and really thought I was dying it was wicked.

NOW? I live in the US and to be honest were I to not have given up would go to a no smoking State (California) and keep throwing rocks through windows and keep getting nicked until I got 12 months in the County Jail where you can’t smoke anyway - so there would be no way I couldn’t give up.

I reckon 12 months in the slammer would be a good trade off to gain more years back on your life and health….

I only slipped once since 85 and that was a “funny fag” LOL

BTW I’m serious I would do time to quit if I had too - Good old California

Ta Dave I’ve gotta give up this year. I’ll try that book sounds good. Ironic that the writer died of lung cancer, but I guess that’s what’s going to happen to me if I don’t.

Good luck with loosing weight, a friend of mine tried hypno and it worked a treat for him. Trying to persuade him to start smoking hehe.

I have a friend who tried to quit smoking and started chewing the nicotine gum. He started discarding the gum by sticking it on the back of his toilet. It soon started growing, so like in the mashed potatoes scene from Close Encounters, he started building a mountain. The thing got to be about 5 feet tall, on the back of his toilet. I think he even gave it a name..

He still smokes, and still chews the gum. Not very effective for quitting smoking, but pretty effective for bringing out your artistic tendencies!

Congrats Dave. BTW, I’m 1 month in on my quitting attempt with no cigarettes at all. Of course I cheated a bit. I took Chantix. Not shilling them in any way other than to say it really works. It’s strange how one day cigarettes just start tasting bad and not providing pleasure. My 2 cents.
