Carphonewarehouse to shed Broadband
I was only saying a few days ago that ISPs were looking to cut costs by banning high traffic websites and service like iplayer and youtube. so it came as no surprise to me when I heard on the news today that carphonewarehouse are looking at splitting TalkTalk (AOL) broadband from its high street retail stores, so what will carphonewarehouse do ?, they have reportedly lost 11,000 users in that last 6 months due to an oversight of 93,000 unreconciled AOL accounts.
So what’s the next move? TalkTalk is cheaper than AOL, but AOL still has a better brand image
Carphone Warehouse said. “In view of the pressure on family budgets we plan to re-price AOL services and move people to TalkTalk more quickly than previously planned,”
Even though they recently moved customers on to their own network as a cost saving exercise, some pundits believe that the service is close to capacity, even with the debts of 80 millionĀ wiped out with the 50% sale of the company to BestBuys, the future does not look too rosy at the moment.
