Can you outsource your blog content
This was a question that was asked last week while I was speaking in Dublin, Btw it’s a service that we have offered in the past to clients so I have to say yes, but it’s truly depending on your industry and how you want to structure your blog.
a) If your blog is like mine is supposed to represent you and not your industry, then I don’t think you can outsource unless it’s to someone in your industry.
b) If you have a legal requirement in your industry
otherwise I don’t feel that there are any real issues, example if you sell xbox360 and ps3 games you could easily get someone to write reviews or at least compile a review from other review sources has long has the content is original I don’t see an issue..
What’s your thoughts when can’t you outsource your blogs content..

http://www.asasventures.co.uk/blog/Yes you can, but you have to monitor it. I use my own posts but also have ghost writers who I give a topic to, they then do the research and write an article. I then go in and amend the article to match my own thoughts and views.
So your can outsource but it depends on the topic area. If its a personal blog then you need to manage it

http://www.epiar.comInteresting scenario, Dave. When you were doing it for clients, was it on a pay-per-post basis or was the cost built in to an overall online/SMO marketing strategy?
We’ve toyed with the idea too, and like yourself, believe it’s best on a per-industry basis – some clients we could write for, but others not so much.

I know of someone who outsourced the “daily chatter” part of his blog to home-based workers on a pay-per-post basis. They are given broad guidelines so that they stay within the vertical. It’s worked well enough that the owner has withdrawn and just does the backend stuff and offers general guidance. I should mention that the setup is such that the public does not see that there are multiple authors. I was impressed.

Damian,
we did the design, hosting and research and the posting for a fixed monthly fee i think we had a minimum of
a) speed posts
example : I saw this in the news today ~( battelle style )
b) rewrites : competitors story rewritten
c) researched : product or story

http://www.tinpig.comI agree 100% with the post. Yes, you can outsource the blog but only if you can view the content as a commodity – shopping tips, product reviews, etc. If you’re after a personal brand (or even a corporate brand, for that matter), best to do it in house.

http://www.didyoudoitbeforeyoureadaboutit.comFirst thing is to decide whether you have time to do all the posts yourself.
If not then you have to outsource or delegate some or all of the posting – assuming you view the concept of having a blog as a good one.

http://www.redcardinal.ieHey Dave
Nice to meet you last week. Agree completely, but I still think that if you’re a business and you’re considering starting a blog outsourcing carries too many risks.
There’s probably lots of suppliers who could offer a good service, but given the industry we live in, probably far more cowboys who’ll get you into trouble.
And some of those cowboys are long established… *sigh*
Hope you enjoyed Ireland

Richard, I loved Ireland and I think that Irish taxi drivers are the best and the worst in the world..
the best because they made me laugh and where they informative, but maybe the language was a little colourful when my kids where around..
example the big needle in the centre.. I asked a taxi drive what it was…
answer : fucking waste of money for sure.

http://www.reallypractical.comApart from the simple time saving aspects, a good writer – specifically a journo – can also help you develop a ‘brand voice’ and tell your story to your prospective audience.
