Bob the VW Camper Van makes it home

by

So after a 7 hour round trip to Manchester this afternoon I finally get Bob back home by about 10.30pm. For the first 30 miles or so I was pretty nervous driving it, but I had Ant in tow as my “recovery vehicle” and then got into a cruising speed of around 60mph, sometimes touching 70mph and journeyed along the M62 and A1.

The kids had been waiting up for me as I expected to be home about 9ish, they were so excited when I finally pulled up on the drive. I think they heard me coming as the brand new engine with twin webbers and a sports exhaust is a suitable tool for waking the neighbours, especially when I blew the horn as I pulled up. We decided to take him around town for a little spin and everyone had big beaming smiles on their faces.

Becky took a couple of pics …

ADDED:
Just been going through the box of paperwork that came with the van with invoices going back to 1991 and a full restoration file, and lots of pics. This is how Bob started to get to how he is today … he’s come a long way!

yep jealous certainly is the word!

When Bob the Builder sorts your garage make sure he fits good locks and alarms – I am only just down the A1!

Would be interested to see other in-build shots if you get time.
