Google Still Cant Deal with Meta Refresh (or they are shit?)

by

Take a look at a pretty competitive term on Google:

online poker
where is 888 for online poker today ?

Scan through and see which one stands out a little.

Got it?

VictoriasSecret.com: The Official Site of Victoria’s Secret
Victoria’s Secret – Shop the world’s most glamourous bras, sexy sleepwear, lingerie
and swimwear. Women’s fashion clothing and apparel, shoes, cosmetics, …
www.victoriassecret.com/ – 31k – 27 Jul 2005 – Cached – Similar pages

So how the hell can VS rank for that when they dont even mention the term on page. Then in the back of my mind I remember a viral game that they launched:

CAPTCHA – Is it good or evil?

by

We are all aware of CAPTCHA – Completely Automated Public Turing Test to Tell Computers and Humans Apart, but in this day and age when disabilities are a key issue for society should sites be still allowed to use them?

The main reason for a CAPTCHA is to prevent bots from registering on sites to enable email address registration for spam emails, to solicit email spam or online spam of sites such as online polls. But the use of a password system that is displayed as a distorted image or letters that are obscured using random methods such as overlaying, has to prevent certain web users from being able to access websites fully.

Easy way to tell.. remember that they DON’T have your username and password, so they can’t verify it… so always sign in with false data :)

Blog Spammers

by

The Clever thing to do, would be just remove my site from your scripts…

Or you could say hey “I’m linking to a texas holdem site”….. go figure,

I’ve played nice but I could just publish all your footprints, IP addresses and URL’s …

I guess the last thing that the Blog Spammers would like to see is a poacher turn game keeper… your choice :)

Google Dupe Content

by

Googles Dupe content filter isn’t so cut and dry as people would have you believe, I have seen it happen so many times, an article is released and syndicated around the world a day or too later, but because google’s spiders didn’t see the orginal article ( usually bad seo ;) ), a syndicated site gets the golden original content flag and the the rest get the :

“repeat the search with the omitted results”

a Good example is a Wired article on “The internet’s two largest search engines are begging to get hacked.” this article was written on July. 02, 2005 – but Google indexed on the 4 Jul 2005

Google Personalized Search

by

I have been running some test on Google personalized search, although the all results aren’t in yet, there does seem to be some loopholes ;)

With Google Personalized Search ON: ( I added the yellow box)

Search On

We are working on %’s at the moment, what will trigger a result and what won’t… I triggered the webmasterworld result Via spam for my Google Personalized Search … But it would be easy to spam for any site .. in fact Google Personalized Search opens an new set of spam doors ;)

Google Personalized Search OFF

Search Off

Ian Turner Last Update

by

Ali has asked me to provide the SEO community, who have all been so worried about Ian, a press release to let everyone know what actually happened in New Orleans/Atlanta that made Ian go missing.

He changed hotel due to the air conditioning system that was keeping him awake and he wanted a good night sleep after the conference and pub con before his flight home. He booked into the Monaco Hotel a few blocks away from the Park Plaza on the Saturday. Unfortunately this hotel wasn’t much better so he didn’t get his good night sleep as planned. He arrived at the airport drained from the conference week and the lack of sleep.
