Banned on Google

10.06.08

We are getting this message more and more these days due to more staff on one IP address searching Google I guess, at least I have a reason to stop seeing if my adwords are running at the moment .. dunno if it’s a Plugin or not, but it looks like it’s another Microsoft Live day.

Yep we get that all the time here. We have a separate Broadband account just for the marketing department as we were seriously pissing the rest of the company off.

I used to have this issue.

Here’s what I did to fix it:

Bought a bunch of IPs (.50 each / month) and then routed them through a proxy (SQUID), and then installed FoxyProxy so I can quickly switch to a new IP if one gets banned.

Also, if thats too advanced, just use a different datacenter.

Ah yes, that one. I’ve seen it after running SEO Quake as well, but I’ve also brought it on with a few choice queries on a clean machine.

Come on Google are you trying to tell me most people don’t use three or more search modifiers, negative filters, quotes, and max results settings, and when I do it looks a wee bit fishy?

    Yup, It’s SEO for firefox.

I spent ages figuring it out, just switch the PR and DMOZ check to “on demand” and it should fix the problem.

Have you tried the Ad Preview Tool?

    https://adwords.google.com/select/AdTargetingPreviewTool

Good for checking geo-targeted ads, cache issues, etc…

I’ve found it’s worth setting parameters on seoquake to load on request and leaving it switched off whenever possible.

I cannot get beyond Page 2 for any search that has:

site: AND inurl: in the search and &num=100 as one of the search options.

Once, many months ago, I was given a CAPTCHA to fill in, and that let me continue for a while.

Nowadays, the Error Message appears for any, and all, page(s) beyond Page 2.

Hey, this is just Google’s way to not show up for owning 100% of the search market in the public stats. That keeps the Feds off their back …
