Back To Business

I’m back!
For those of you who are not aware on the 2nd April my 2 year old son Ethan was rushed to hospital with meningococcal septicaemia and meningitis. It has got to be one of the scariest times of my life, as we were waiting hour by hour for signs that his treatment was working to save his life. We spent 10 days at St. James’ Hospital in Leeds where Ethan spent 4 days in Intensive Care (48 hours on a ventilator) before moving to the Children’s Ward.
Thankfully he has made a full recovery and is building his strength back up. My sincerest thanks go out to the local GP that saved his life by recognising the symptoms early and starting the correct treatment, and all of the doctors, nurses and staff at St. James’ hospital for taking care of my son and my family through these terrible times. Special thanks goes to the Sick Childrens Trust, www.sickchildrenstrust.org which enabled my family to stay in Leeds at the hospital with Ethan for 10 days in one of their “home from homes”.

Many thanks for letting us know about this, and for the phone call earlier when I had my own scare with my youngest tonight. Sincerely glad everyone’s fine.

Just in case anyone would like more information, this may be a useful link for symptoms, and also shows what an actual septicaemic rash looks like: Meningitis Symptoms
