Dave pointed out this post this morning – http://blog.endofweb.co.uk/2009/08/techcrunch-arrington-iphone-ignorance/ which has compelled me to write about this post as well. From a more commercial perspective.

Is this a paid post?

I can’t help but wonder if this is a post Google has paid for in one way or another, whilst I don’t have any actual evidence to back this theory up, why else would someone who “has always wanted to use Google Voice” be writing a review about how evil AT&T are for forcing Apple to remove the Application. This is again speculation. However I just can’t see why Apple would reject the iPhone application other than AT&T applying pressure for them to do so because of the Unlimited Data tariff that all iPhones come with.

Just to reinforce my theory on Google having some sort of special relationship with Tech Crunch, this article has just been posted:- http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/08/02/google-launches-a-major-offensive-against-microsoft-with-going-google/iPhone

For traffic?

With the authority of Tech Crunch it was easy for them to secure a first page place for the phrase “iPhone” which is of course great for business. Keeping the advertisers happy. The dramatic title “I Quite The iPhone” will of course get them a nice big Click Through Rate as well. This is again just me speculating.

I just don’t see any other reasons to post something with such little substance as: http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/07/31/i-quit-the-iphone/

It might very well be a real, legitimate post (and I suspect it is)…but when you’ve been called on the carpet in the past for shenanigans, questioning the motivations of everything you write is fair game.

You spelled quit as quite in bold.

“I just don’t see any other reasons to post something with such little substance as”

Seems like you done exactly the same though when you made a post titled “iPhone 3GS UK” with what can only be described as “little substance” also ;)

@Phil – What the eyes see, the ears hear, the Mind believes. Plenty of substance to my posts :P

Well to be honest I’ve not read many of your old posts, so I’ll take your word for that. I’d research this myself but your name or photo doesn’t link to your old posts, so it looks like a lot of work so I’ll pass :D

In all seriousness, whats the difference with his blatant attempt at traffic, compared to yours? Apart from the success of it of course…
