Alliance and Leicester Online Banking UK
Iv’e just had a call from my bank about a recent card application I made. The call went like this ” This is the Alliance and Leicester Bank, what’s your DOB”, “Your Mother’s maiden name” …..erm hang on a sec here, I raise the question ” How do I know you are my Bank?” … answer ” Well, you could call this number back, but you probably wouldn’t get to speak to me”
Sorry not good enough.
Is this the best our UK online banking services can do ? It could of been anyone calling… What happened to online security let alone online banking ?
Id like to know how many other people have experienced such security holes with their banks.
Recently I was questioned about putting money into my wife’s account, simply because they couldn’t disclose whether or not she had an account at that branch. Another security measure the bank’s use is to say with telephone banking is ” We need you to put your wife on the phone to confirm it’s ok to speak about your joint account”….erm at this point should you use a high pitched voice and say “Yes, that’s fine, my husband can withdraw my life savings”

http://andrewbuonocore.comAgreed 100%, and when you point this out they seem utterly bemused. First Direct are pretty good at this, but even thy will ask for your personal details to start with.
Would it be so difficult to store a record in their system that a given person had called us at a given time, then let us have a reference number that we can call back on to be put through to the correct person right away?

http://www.mubinahmed.comIf I get a call from the back and they start asking questions I hang up. If its important mail me a letter. If its really important I will probably call you.
Is it true that you kissed Shawn Hogan? Like tongue to tongue?

http://www.212articles.comThe verification process should be more professional and should be followed by some authenticity check. As the telemarketers around the world in philipenes and india are making such calls all the time. Buy this , buy that , mortgage , phone connections and what not.
And eventually they need personal information to end the deal. with increasing number of identity theft cases I think Banks and other institutions should come up with some sort of check so that the customer should have sense of security that his/her personal information is not going in wrong hands.

http://alchemyv.com/blog/?cat=29Why don’t you say, “tell you what lets do a trade?”
A&L: Whats your middlename?
DN: Okay what’s the 2nd digit of my security number?
A&L: Whats the overdraft limit on your account?
DN: What’s my account number?

http://www.bucks.netMany of these finance companies really do not practice what they preach. How many times have we heard about about customer data, being found dumped in the street in a plastic bags or losing laptops. Totally shocking.

I do not like that incompetent bank, who sold their souls.
Alliance and Leicester are rude and have hardly any costumer care service.
They did take me through security on the telephone, not once but TWICE…
They asked for my name, DOB, 4 digits end of my card, the 3 numbers on the back of the card, home telephone number the valid and expiry date on the card. Then wait for it…..
MY NATIONAL INSURANCE NUMBER.
These Twats are actually Tossers, as it is my money, which I wanted transferred and it wasn’t that much money anyhow, just £1000 of my money..
Who the Hell does this feeble Banking Customer service think they are. Even the Manager TOM started raising his voice at me, I wonder way?? TOM this is not the JOB for YOU!
Richard, politeness won’t go amiss..
MARK, what a TWAT..
Plus wait for the ending…..I need to write in to close MY Account.
I just so DISLIKE THIS COMPANY..
Just waiting for them to go BUST>>>>>
