Aftervote will end Mahalo

23.07.07

Why Aftervote will end Mahalo? They have a few editors, we have 1000’s ranging from supereditors that can change results, to normal users that can influence the results, and if we don’t have the Aftervote serps, we switch to meta search not Googles !!

Nice. Very nice. Perhaps make a tool bar?

How about sort by digg in reverse order too or an “Not dugg” option. Just think that could get you some repeat traffic from the people looking hard for new items to post.

I did an unsolicited review of Aftervote when they were first called Younanimous. Then, it seemed like an engine with tons of potential. I definitely feel it will outlast Mahalo. The social aspect of Aftervote is much more powerful than Mahalo.

Looks very good Dave - One suggestion for the ‘next’ button though. I see it’s meant to take you through the listed pages, but it might be more intuitive to have it highlight the page number you are on after you load the page. Also if you’re on the last page of results, hide the next button - pressing it sends you to a page with no results. (FF 2.0.0.5/IE 6)

The possibility to rate websites up, comment on the results, and interact with the search results as a user and in general make the queries better and more specific on the search for, not just yourself, but for other people too, was an interesting concept and i’m going to use it for a few weeks
