A UK SEO Company .. TUT TUT

ok i don’t mind people buying links … but when www.davidnaylor.co.uk gets the following email days after Matt Cutts says Selling links and be dammed

Hi There

I would like to sponsor a post or a few on your blog. We represent several large companies so the post and link will be to a company that you are most probably very familiar with and is highly reputable.

Essentially, what we would like is a positive or neutrally framed review with a couple of inline text links; one to the home page and one to a specific product page.

I like the fact the unlike many sites your site is not being overly monetised with adverts but rather offers good commentary.

If you agree in principle, we will provide you with the details of potential clients for your reassurance as well as a short brief in order to make it easy as possible for you to comment - and of course payment. Paypal is probably the easiest option as I can do that immediately.

Our standard rates for each paid review is as follows:

• Post on pages with PR 6 - £12.50 / $25
• Post on pages with PR 5 - £8 / $16
• Post on pages with PR 4 - £5.50 / $11
• Post on pages with PR 3 - £3.50 / $7
• Post on pages with PR 0-2 (sorry, :-( not eligible for payment on this project)

As mentioned, we represent several clients that would be keen to have you review and make honest comment on articles, resources and tools on their sites. I am hoping to establish a few exclusive relationships with bloggers like you that I have already worked with and can call on if you are interested. If you know of any other bloggers with good blogs, please feel free to put them in touch with me also.

Please let me know if you have other sites you are also interested in linking to our clients from.

Kind Regards

well that’s just taking the piss, Maybe I will call them :)

lol Dave, what’s up, they not offer you enough? ;)
Just think how you could spend that £12.50 - some people have too much money :)

Can I have a PR6 link too please? I have half a Curly Wurly and a bag of Nik Naks with your name on it…

Didn’t you recently do a ReviewMe post? ;)

Geese, that really isn’t much money is it? PR6 for £12.50! Who is going to spend any time at all to get hold of £12.50. Haven’t these people heard of inflation…it isn’t 1970 now.

wow, not only does it sound like a generic email, £12.50 for a PR6 link… perhaps you could put that £12.50 to better use and spam the fudgers back lol

I assume that these guys are bottom feeders trying to build a large volume of links for medium PR sites, and they may or may not pay the rates mentioned in the spam. Friends have entered into “similar” schemes before and not been paid.

Why bother with PR3 sites anyway. Much better sites hardly hide what they’re up to…

I get links for casinos and lawyers at the bottom of the page. Looks like a PR9 page to me.

The sales pitch takes only 3 words before pagerank is introduced as a key factor in the decision to buy a text advert - “With phpBB.com’s high Google Pagerank and Alexa Traffic Ranking, text-link based advertising is one of the best ways …… “

Wow. I feel like Eddie Murphy and Dan Akroyd at the end of Trading Places buying as many orange futures as they could. I’ll buy every $25 dedicated post on a PR 6 page that’s available, going so far as to mortgage my house to pay for them all. Have they actually found anyone willing to do that?

£12.50 is a bit cheaper than the amount you’re effectively charging to review those croc shoes!

very clever tactic. not everyone is seo minded or technically able. to them $25 might seem like a good deal for a post on their blog. there are plenty of blogs with natural pr. btw, bad choice sending it to dave though…

    What cheapskates?

I agree wtih Shane. I’ll buy all of those PR 6 links. Basically they are paying half the monthly rate per link.
