Smooth sailing… ;) So they are beta testing a browser but they didn’t test a couple of the most popular sites on the web?

Don’t plan to try IE8 until they fixed all these bugs,
    Firefox is still the best…

That output looks like IE8 should never have moved out of the alpha phase! Just think how easy it would be if Microsoft used Gecko instead. Amazes me how, after all this time, they still can’t get a competitive browser out.

Ouch. Not a good start for IE8, even if it is a beta you’d have hoped someone would have run a few sites past it.

I’m not surprised to be honest. People have been putting workarounds for IE in their sites for a long time and these workarounds are hard to pin down to a specific version.

I guess many people just make a difference between IE and browsers that “get” standards better. And that’s probably why these sites fail.

These security warnings, well… You’re using Vista, so you’re used to them, right? ;-)

[...] IE 8 Beta. Currently it’s not clear when IE 8 will come out of beta. But based on some early reports, it looks like there are quite a few things Microsoft will need to fix before this browser goes [...]

Actaully, you all have it the wrong way around. IE8 is fantastic and is actually standards complient. The problem is previous versions are not so people have coded sites to work with non standards browsers.

Also the remark about firefox being better, that fails the acid2 test where as IE8 passes it, it’s not the be all and end all but it dose show that ie8 is more standards complient.

Wow, it’s full of holes and it’s so slow! Why oh why does M$ release crap. They can surely do better than this, even with an early release. The sad fact is that no matter how mediocre IE8 ens up being it will dominate the market, for a now at least.

IE8 passes the acid2 test, and Ff doesn’t. But you are comparing bleeding edge with a release version of firefox. Because the firefox beta(!) does pass the acid2 test, just like the IE8 beta(!) does.

But I guess that it also proves that the acid2 test doesn’t really mean all that much, IE8 beta passes acid2 but F**ks-up a load of regular sites with which firefox has no problem. Think b4 you post.

    It’s not IE8.
The problems are the non-compliant sites.
They will be fixed soon. At least before June when the consumer beta comes out.

I had High hopes IE8 would sort out the problems that IE7 had … I went to firefox for the last 6 months as I gave up on IE .. so I installed to try IE8

Same old story … Flash not running on every site I look at things that work perfect in Firefox and Opera

Tried to to log into IE chat to see if it can be sorted .. but surprise .. blank page … rubbish stay with Firefox … IE8 Tech Team have a look at how other browsers work and see if you can get Internet Explorer Close to working Properly ..

Untill .. the basics are sorted on internet Explorer .. im staying well away and advise everybody else to do the same
