‘a4uexpo Bavarian Beer and Sausage on stand 50’
Little competition (& link building campaign, which they will probably get a slap for) going on over at the State of Search on ‘How to make the most of a4uexpo London as a Delegate’ so I thought for the first time in over a year since I’ve written on here I’d share some of my ideas on hows best to go about this:
Prepare before you arrive.
After visiting many conferences now I’ve quickly learned its absolutely paramount to work out who and what your going to listen to before you get there. This way you know the decisions you’ve made will benefit your business the most. Generally its good to have an all round knowledge of SEO, PPC, CRO and what Affiliate networks are upto so its also worth filling the gaps if you aren’t competent with a particular advertising channel.
The most important part for me has always been the networking that happens around the talks and in the evenings, don’t be scared to talk to anyone. I can’t emphasis this enough, if your a little nervous a little dutch courage never hurt anyone.
Never be afraid to ask
If your unsure of something whilst listening to a presentation, never be afraid to ask a question, regardless of how simple it is. There are people from all levels from complete beginners to the experts talking on stage. If your too embarrassed to ask during the presentation, most presenters will be happy to talk to you afterwards. Everyone visits these events to network and learn from each other. Its what makes the digital marketing community a great one.
Finally – Visit the Search Engine Optimisation Q&A and Google Signals : What Matters for Affiliates for great advice from Dave (see picture below) on how to best optimise your affiliate website and if we win this prize it will be passed on to a fortunate reader from our blog.
